Connection issues plagued the already delayed launch of Fat Princess on the PlayStation Network. If you've stayed away from the game due to connection and lag issues, now's a good time to fire it up again as Titan Studios has released a patch to fix them.

The patch is only available for North American gamers for the moment. Europe should be getting it next week after Sony Europe is done testing it thoroughly for all the territories there. Here are the patch notes:
  • The server selection heuristic has been modified so that ping time has been more heavily weighted when selecting potential matches.  This will result in players being connected to games in such a way that game population and ping are more evenly weighted.
  • Newly hosted servers will be more attractive to potential clients and thus fill up more quickly. The change will also better distribute connection attempts among servers and thus reduce failed attempts.
  • Potential servers will be given less time to respond to ping requests.  This should speed up that portion of the connection process.
  • Selected servers will be given more time to establish a connection, resulting in fewer failed attempts.
  • The connection code is less sensitive to packets coming back out of order.  This was a cause of failed connections.
  • Ice Mage and Dark Priest AoE scoring has been adjusted from 10 points to 2 points per enemy affected.
  • Non-worker resource return has been reduced from 20 points to 10 points.
  • Feeding the princess has been reduced from 20 points to 15 points.
  • Castle door hit points have been reduced slightly from 30 to 25.
  • The PrincessÂ’ calorie burn has been increased at weight stage 2, 3, and 4.  Calorie burn was previously 2 per second at all stages.  Stage 2 is now 4 per second, stage 3 is 8 per second, and stage 4 is 12 per second.

Was odd that I had played this in online mode which although didn't look laggy the princess was not where the map kept saying she was at all. I ended up quitting not because of that but because of yet more players with headsets talking like total idiots. Anyways then I was busy for nearly a week so didn't get a chance to play. But last night I put it on, and decided to just play the one player mode and complete those levels. During that though two online trophies popped up as having been obtained even though I was not playing online at all. So these must have been from the previous weeks session but surely they should have happened during that match? Is it possible that trophies can lag too?

Trophies.

They do not get applied until the end of the match. So if you quit halfway through a match then it didn't end! When you next ended a single player it must have caught up with what you did in your previous match. Not ideal, but nice to know it does not just drop what you did online because you did not play a full match.

traffic order.

...

I see. Though it a bit odd that they appeared in the middle of a single player game, rather than working it out when I started up the game or something.

nice

after the patch I decided to get the game. It was alright. Once I joined a game I had no problems finishing it. The game is hectic, and half of the time I didn't know what I was doing. But I did bring one princess back to her throne in a game from the middle of a level!

Yes, it is hectic.

That is part of the beauty. You can go around doing your own thing in the mayhem and no-one really notices - chances are that it is still better than what the bots are doing.
