Fasten your seatbelts: Forza Motorsport 2 vs Gran Turismo HD video |
Ó
The guys at Game Trailers released a video comparing two big boys in the racing genre: Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 2 (upcoming title for the Xbox 360) and Gran Turismo HD (downloadable for the PlayStation 3). The video has both games playing side by side, making comparison so much easier. While many people would have very different opinions about the two titles, they both have their good points in terms of gameplay, photo-realism, and overall experience.
We'll let you watch the video and see for yourself. You know the drill. Ready, set, go!

But there is no contest, they really better fix those framerate issues for a starter though.
It really was no contest.... interesting. Box fans.... your rebuttle?
Comparing a Demo to a full on game?
Why not wait and compare forza and GT5 . . . ?
Even so the GT HD "Demo" looks so much nicer.

Both look great, love the crowds in GTHD but there is no contest since the Forza actually has you racing other cars, I'd give up the crowd eye candy in a heart beat for a real game. Besides the people both seem to be on par graphically.
keep dreaming amigo!!
I perordered my Forza LCE months ago and can`t wait to play. It will be a BLAST !!! But i am pretty sure that GT 5 will be a Blast, too. And maybe one of the reasons to go buy a PS3 when the console itself will be cheaper.
Forza 2 which is a finished product fails to impress infront of GT:HD,which is no more than the GT4 engine with some tools
however this video is Unfair,GT:HD can be played at 1080P they should use that resolution to compare
they should compare GT:HD at 1080P with Forza 2 at 720P[its max res]
if thats just the GT4 engine,i wonder how will GT5 look like...
Forza has much better lighting effects. It's noticeable that the damage effects are also better. Right paste half-way (with the silver and blue car) Forza obviously looks better (your blind if you can't see that). I would have loved to see a comparison to Project Gothem 4. All you fanboys couldn't say ***** about GT looking better. PS3 FTW.
Forza is going to hold me over until GT5. I love simulation racing games and if Forza is the only Next-gen one out, Im going to get it. Plus its the only game in recent memory that I know of with the E36 BMW M3. My car. I love that I can finally race with my own car.
But really, if GT5 and Forza 2 came at the same time, I would get Gran Turismo any day.
GT:HD is a tech demo - GT:4 played on a very early version of the GT:5 engine - thats all its ever going to be. GT:5 is going to be amazing - no doubt about that - but - isnt it coming out in over a years time?
Forza 2 is a complete game. It got customisation, 300 cars, lots of tracks, auction house, photo mode, huuuge livery editor - so - you cant really compare GT:HD
if im going to pick - im choosing Forza 2, will all its added content, over the 20 or so cars and 1 track in GT:HD.
after a year, most games start to look a little dated - so yeah - GT:HD is gonna take the prize... although... it's not going ot have damage... and the customisation features will probly be gash
Forget the eye candy for a moment, thier both meant to be simulators and having played both quite extensively.... well as much as you can with a demo and a short freebie there is only one winner. Forza feels, acts & sounds like it should with the added bonus of non of this crappy bouncing off things with no consequences. I own both consoles so I'm not biased in any way. GT HD ain't bad but it needs a fair bit of reworking before GT5 and definately the annoying tire screeching sorting out !
Waiting for both to have full releases before slating either of them is best I think and remember that the PS3 is quite a bit behind in dev time so don't expect things straight away.
Cheers, Slyck
it still will be no cigar especially compare to GT5. The thing that impresses me the most about GTHD is the suspension modeling, it's so real.
i agree w/all you guys up there saying how this is retarded comparing a full game to a "demo" lol GT FTW! PS3 FTW! thanks! i got HOME anyone else here have it? add me! mik3yl3
The graphics of GT:HD look amazing. They make Forza 2 look average.
The cars look a lot more detailed and more realistic compared on GT:HD to Forza, and this is just on GT:HD's enchanced GT4 engine, which is amazing since Forza 2 is a reworked game near completion.
I can't imagine how good GT5 would be!
And yes, I'm a 360 owner. I don't have a PS3, but I'm planning on buying one after seeing some of the great games like Uncharted, Ratchet, Heavenly Sword and even Warhawk looks interesting.
aww .........half life and gta 5 and midnight club los angelez .........and many otherz gonna be big hitterz n theyll run better on tha ps3, due to lending it extra storage easiy gettable from tha hard drive'................hell i love how oblivian play's ,.....i donty care if it takes up 4 gigs to run seemlessly'
especially when i install a 280 gig hard drive in it
GT:HD still looks better even it's just a demo. The only thing in forza is better is the bloom effects on the cars...
wel, the fact that a demo can be compared to a full game says something...the cars in GTHD look better than forza! gthd is a demo!! think what GT5 will look like - sure we can compare GT5 and Forza 2...but GT5 will beat forza more than GTHD is already in terms of graphics
clearly gran turismo looks so much better with much more detail....u couldnt even compare the foliage in GT to Forza, Forza was basically flat, while GT was lush like Oblivion!!
As A conclusion "hold your horses" xbots, nothing to cheer about...
THE XBOX 360 LOST!!
muahhhaahah
It is easy to talk about GT HD's graphic prowess when the engine only needs to handle one car on the road.
Is there some unwritten rule about posting these race videos? Why is it that every one of them has the most pathetic driver at the wheel?
My 5 yr old can drive the GT demo better than that.
I dont see any differents. D:
No contest as usual. PS3 GTHD is hands down the winner.
The visuals are just stunning. This is a first gen DEMO; lol. For goodness sake; Microsoft is trying to compete against a demo; AND LOSES! ROFLMAO!!!
okay firstly the Gran Turismo HD video is from the Concept Version, it is not Final Graphics and not only that it is a "virtual console/downloadable game or as Xbox would say a XBL Game..."... which they are comparing to a final finished and full game...
Forza has a nicer look to the vehicles, being that they are naturally shiny etc but the environments look plain and dull whereas GTHD environments look sharp and realistic...
we will have to wait for Gran Turismo Five which will crush both of them hopefully...
Ditto.
Forza 2 looks better as that is what you see in gameplay , and that demo is old too, not final release. Gran Turismo HD is a pre- rendered backgraound where they replace the car model specifically for the replay that you see there. GT gameplay does not look like that.
Pass the crack pipe... Prerendered on your mothers grave... Anyone has played the GTHD demo knows it isn't prerendered. Sold my Wii, the 360 went red ring and now holds open a door and now my PS3 walks the dog, pays the bills and goes to work for me!
Compare GT5 and PGR4. Forza is not as much as a first party game as PGR4 - same as GT5.
Compare the 2 consoles MAIN driving games.
Its not as if your comparing the same game on 2 different consoles. Its about as relevant as comparing Crysis and Gears of war.
shut up you retard..go play the game first before you start telling people the replays are prerendered...just because you can't accept that car models from a demo look better than the full game forza 2...pathetic really
I have a PS3 and the GT-HD DEMO
The frame rate in game and in replays is constant and smooth it seems like they have yanked some frames out of this video in an effort to make the game look worse then it is, Or maybe the capture program used to make it could not handle all the 1080 goodness from GT-HD
Either way why compare a year old Tech demo of a cancelled game to a full and finished product
They are both demos being shown, and you have got it the wrong way round its easier to make a demo look good than a full game, but I have both these demos on both machines and neither have the frame rates or pixelating like these screens have. Pointless.
why do you think every replay camera is locked. its because the entire background is replaced with pre-rendered images projected onto geometry, and the cars are replaced with higher model.
the developers themselves revealed that trick during the e3 conference last year.
retard fanboys.
You cant compare a racing game that has only ONE car and just a background to throw around against another game that has to do that two but also show around 16 cars as well, STUPID COMPARISON..
If you are going to compare GTHD then it should be against the next say Rally game on the 360 where the 360 will also have the advantage of only having to move ONE car..
I have both of these its just the video making them look worse nothing else.
The 360 is having to move around 16 cars as well as the background the PS3 is moving just ONE car, surly they should compare this to something like Formula ONE on the PS3 which also has to move around a lot of cars then we would get a realistic idea of how good each one really looks..
How can you compare these? For all the PS3 Fanboys Shut it! It's just one track taken from Forza. You haven't even seen the rest of the game. Idiots. I have a PS3 aswell so I dont care what's best cos I'll just get both, but I will say the cars look slightly better on the PS3, but given a crappy low res video it's hardly the best way to view the two. And GT5 wont be out months and months. Fall next year at least. Mark my words
What part of Demo do these guys not understand.Forza 2 is just abusing the whole dynamic light thing way too much. It's at a point to where you cant even see the surface of the car.You guy just want to believe that it's on par with GTHD.What you guys fail to realize is that GtHD is a Demo and yes Forza is a complete game, and it still get beat by the demo.I own an xbox 360 and but Gran turismo is still the game to be in it's genre.Good luck convincing yourselves that Forza 2 is a better game.
You guys do realize that Forza 2 isn't out, and that it was a demo from several months ago, right? It was approved and released not too long ago, but everyone saying "demo better than full game" is completely uninformed. And GTHD isn't so much a demo as it is a Tech demo, which does make a difference. GT-HD is dealing with one car on track. Though admittedly, it runs in native 1080p.
Overall I'd say this is a terrible comparison, and the results are bunk. I'm seeing fans saying "well GTHD isn't choppy or pixely like that, but its clearly better than Forza," and guess what? Forza doesn't look as meh as it does in this video either. Until we can get a demo on the same track with the exact same cars, I'm not gonna give more than a shrug. As an aside, the forza track is a boring one in real life, and I think was a poor choice for its demo.
GTHD looks really good compared to Forza 2, yes i own a 360, but GT is the game and Forza just dont cut it, picture mode is on GT4 i have GT4 and GT4 has about 500+ cars and Forza 2 a next gen game only 300+ come on its a disgrace of a game, thats just 1 point lost for xbox but it got more games than ps3, and i cant afford that shyt anyways....(ps3)
blind? I was highly disappointed with the Forza 2 demo. The handling of the cars holds no fire to GT:HD. The cars look ridiculously fake as well. Yes, it does actually show damage, but I would rather have more realistic looking cars.
And as for rendering more than one car at a time, do you really think it's going to change the quality of the graphics or framerate? Highly doubtful.
Now lets compare gameplay>
it wasn't the framerate they were comparing; it was the quality of the graphics, which GTHD wins (mostly due to the scenery and track; cars look about the same)
uses the GT5 engine; if you look at the original press release, it says it uses the GT5 engine. at least that's how I remember it
GT HD has a camera a little far, they should change it to a closer one for a comparision
because the camera some textures are not apreciated well enough or just in some times during the video, both games has very well textures for what I see
also they are using a circuit for 2 cars only, they should change it for bigger one for more cars, GT HD uses more cars than the original so it has no significant impact in graphics using more cars for GTHD but for a better comparison they should use the same as possible in both games
the damaged cars I dont think has a very significant weight for graphics in terms of calculation first because its most cpu work(except when the texture change), both consoles has the potential to do that, and cause most of the deformations apply on the mesh already done and the calculation for the impact only occurs on a crash not all the time and finally its really not a so complex calculation what they are doing
I saw a texture of a windows broken in forza that looks like a texture, I cannot tell by the video probably in a future or maybe this game really cut the window mesh instead of changing it, that would be a good detail but for now It looks like just a texture
for lighting its dificul to make an opinion both looks very well buts because the circuits used the cars in forza have more lights effects but the road in GT looks better
I think no one should be fighting there are no significant diferences in these games for say one be better than other and probably their secuels will be much more better
You can't really compare gameplay on a wide open track with gameplay on a tight road course like the one shown on GT HD. I would use PGR3 for this comparison (YES, PGR3. Believe me or not, it will look similar.) it's more fair, tighter roads. And if you think that the final game will look better, brace yourselves. They will have to add at least 7 more cars to make folks happy, and that will be extracted from framerate and/or graphics. I believe that we will not see 8 cars on track on GT5, since sony is trying it's best to advertise the supposed superior graphics of their machine. I see no substantial difference between the two games, each has their own strong or weak points. But, remember something: Forza 2 will be here first. No one knows when GT5 will be out. The real comparison lies in Forza 3 vs GT 5.
I have both demo's and i say the GTHD is way better
unfair comparison but gt still wins
gt hd is a simple demo to show wot the ps3 could do at this early stage.
u cant compare mods ie crash damage, weather, smoke, lighting because one gthd is not even a demo of the full game and two its not going to be a full game. its just one track and 10/20 cars with some handling options ect
if gthd looks better than froza 2 wot will gt5 look like since it uses a newer and better engine?
forza looks 2 basic to me ie the track ect
my god and it's only a demo.
Anyone fancy a year old 360?
Going cheap, opened once.
I was rethinking about my decision about buying PS3 from the gaming perspective, but what can I say this comparison made my day in terms that PS3 wasn't a bad choice for next gen console. The GTHD graphics don't leave any chance for Forza, what else can I say.
Even thou based on what info is released till now Xbox360 seems to have a better Graphics chip compared to PS3, this demo seems to show that intelligent use of the full PS3 system (may be including Cell to aid Graphics processing - just guessing here) can provide the real next gen graphics (and related realism of the game world).
this is how it goes
ps3 exclusives (especially 1st party ) will always look better than a game thats on a multi platform system.
ppl judge the ps3 as havening poor grafix because they compare the same game on both consoles.
well wot ppl dont know is that games r 1st made on the 360 then ported over to the ps3 and developers dont use the actual of the ps3
games would look better on the ps3 if the game was 1st made on the ps3 but because the 360 supports a lower res (720p), no hdd and used dvd 9 ps3 games can not be fitted on a dvd 9 disk.
this is y most games r 720p (because of the 360). the 360 might be able 2 upscale to 1080p but the ps3 supports true 1080p but does not have a working upscaler so the ps3 sounds like the worst console but infact its because of the limitations on the 360 that makes the ps3 look crap
graphically there pretty close together. It just seems that Forza is more "shiny" which doesn't mean anything. And comparing a demo that uses the GT4 engine and 1080p that was just released for *****s and giggles vs the full game..... ya ok no one really cares
what rebuttle? GTHD had far better backgrounds and Forza had far better physics. end of story. Cars looked the same to me but it is hard to tell in the quality video. Look how the car caught air in GTHD, looked like a *****ing arcade game. And look at the grass texture in Forza, not to next gen. The only thing that i would like to point out so no fanboys try and use it agianst xbox is that the video of forza is the demo on xbox live and there is no difficulty settings available in the demo, so when the other cars hit you there is no damage. Like the first forza, this one will have realistic damage.
The majority of the comments purely compare graphics.(which shouldn't be compared because the video is crappy for both sides)I think the most important aspect is that they are games. The graphics can be astounding, but if the actual game play isn't any good you still have a crappy game. I think this comparison is crap and should just be disregarded. You can't compare the two unless you actually sit down and play each one.
It's sad that a game's worth is now determined by its graphics. I want game play not massive amounts of epileptic inducing bloom.
Actual racing games are more impressive than tech demos. Are they planning on finishing an actual Gran Turismo game for the PS3 or just announcing vaporware like on the PSP?
Gran Turismo HD is nothing more than a tech demo. It is not close to a complete game and does not have to handle much onscreen at once. Do you want to play a game with great graphics that is nothing but time trials? Forza will improve, Gran Turismo will get worse as features are added which will tax system resources and comprimises are made. The resolution and framerate will drop when more cars are added, guaranteed. Besides, Gran Turismo will not come out for over a year if they even decide to finish it, and by that time better racing games will be available on the 360.
Why are the only graphically impressive PS3 games so far horribly incomplete?
You lost again on the biggest loser system available.
from what i see, i think that yes, GTHD has better graphics, just a little for the cars and way more for the enviro... but thats because the ps3 is better at handling massive amounts of polygons per sec... thats why this new medical tech that shows scanned images of patients uses the ps3 since its fast rate of rendering a lot of polygons. sony did their research well...
but i think forza wins with the whole realistic physics aspect, because that spin in GT looked really weird and unrealistic to me, but the Forza spin looked pretty real. also again why doesnt GT be the REAL simulator with damage, i mean you can be like 200+ and smack straight into a wall and expect to just reverse and keep going in real life!?
and people thinking that rendering more cars wont effect the 360... it will, because the 360 can not handle having an awesome enviro while still computing the behaviors of the other cars, compute physics, and various other calculations need. but we all know that the ps3 can handle this load hence motorstorm, seriously, if microsoft had a crazy good graphics system like the ps3 i think forza would win with their physics*you cant say the physics suck because tire info from michelin*not sure if its them*, i think it makes it pretty real*.
Looking at the videos and actually playing both games i think the Grand Turismo looks better in almost all the departments. Grass, tress, and the backround look freaking sweet than in the Xbox 360... In my opinion PS3 wins....
Forza is the demo, not GT HD...
n00b
F@uk simulation driving games its all about street racing games both those games r garbage midnight club the best
i just dont know what to say. being the 360 fan boy that i am i set up my wireless racing wheel as the forza demo was finishing downloading. i boot it up only to find that the graphics totally suck. i tip my hat to sony on this one guys. microsoft and turn ten ... hang your heads down low you should be ashamed of what you have done to what should have been a great series. gtHD wins this round but pgr4 will destroy anything sony tries to throw at it. hell pgr3 probably looks better. i havnt seen gtHD in person but im sure its garbage compared to pgr.
GTHD looks awesome and fun to play. Forza 2 look plain and boring but the only thing fun is crashing the cars driving backwards.
I have both system and 1080p HDTV and all I can say is GTHD has no competition. You could actual almost feel the under and oversteer in this game. It make you feel like your in the car itself. GJ GTHD
These games cann't really be compared. GT:HD looks better simply because the developers had to work with one level and they made it look real nice. Ie why Gears of war looks better than halo.
As well many have said that having more than one car affects performance, and well they're right for the most part. By adding more cars more processing power must be split to render the extra cars so yes it does improve performance and detail to have fewer cars, IE oblivion and the distant lands settings.
Finally Forza because it shows car damage the base model will not be as detailed as allowing the warping to occur is very processing intensive and the higher the base textures the more power needed to change them. This addes up to say that a more acccurate comparison would be PGR3 to Gt:HD and it seems to be what sony intended as they have not once but twice used PGR3 to advertise GT.
forza reminds me of ridge racers as far as looks, i think gthd looks better. i havent played forza yet but in this video it looks like the cars are sliding. gthd looks like i plays better too.
GTHD uses the ps3's 7 processors, adding more cars would not hinder it in any way shape or form watso ever. I love it when ppl so obviously and then say something totally wrong, just makes u want to murder them slowly.
there ya go way to do what your supposed to do. see through all the 360 bull***** they put in front of your eyes. i bet you used to diss the ps3 left and right because you had microsofts ***** up your ass but now that they ripped you off with the elite you finally wanna show the company whos never done that ***** before and that company is "SONY!" sure theyved rereleased stuff smaller and cheaper but never claiming it was better and raising the price like microsoft.
what, which console are you boasting ps3 or xbox?
WOW your such a *****ing retard you know that Hellraiser? you really think that the 360 will ever be able to match the ps3's power? it wont there will be an ever gayer version of the 360 called ULTIMATE which will have a even bigger hard drive but nothing every worth it. i hope youve learned from the elite. they said you dont need hdmi or big hard drive but guess what all of a sudden their gettin their asses kicked by hdmi and bigger hard drive of a ps3 and all of a sudden their all like "were stupid lets just make our customers pay more for stuff they deserve"
GT > Forza
true story
like i said on the gametrailer forums GTHD wins, FREE will always wins.
all those favoring forza 2 will be getting more love from microsoft too, upgrades/racetracks are coming 12 dollars per set. more cars 6 dollars each, more icons/palletes/sprites 6 dollar per set. extra paint jobs 2 dollars per car, extra soundtrack music 6 dollars 3 songs 1 good and 2 so so. also don't forget to pay your LIVE subscription. in the end you have spent over a hundred dollars juts to get the complete setup.
GT HD is FREE!FREE!FREE! FREE!FREE!
and
that
freaking
FORZA IS NOT NOTNOtno!Notn2O N! bitgdfstches
GT is hella alot cars and you can compare your scores online.
I cant say that I disagree with the post above mine but I can add to the picture...Whats this thing about Microsoft waiting to see who is going to be the winner in the Blu VS HD wars??
Not including an HD-DVD drive in the Elite is criminal...Oh yeah it would cost 100 bucks more... the same as the ps3 but still undepowered...
But as MS says its all about choise isnt it? No its not!! either way everybody wants an HD player nowadays and if you have an Xbox 360 already why go and spit another 500 bucks just to buy an HD-dvd player when you can buy the 100 buck addon????
Its not about choice its about I AM MICROSOFT AND I CAN MANIPULATE YOUR MINDS VIA YOUR WALLETS.
In the full release of GT 5 im sure they will not have any problems handling extra cars with the same graphics (or better) considering the ps3 had a bloody super processor and all...
forza is not even close to gt hd it is the fact that xbox360 can not give a real life touch to its games i know with my comment xbots will became angry but who cares about xbots they are just 11million assss holes sony has its 100million fans all over the world
nor is it a demo. ITS GTHD Concept - jus a small game with 1 track, foward/reverse, 10 cars, timetrial/drift...
Somebody speaks with some sense. The XBOX 360 does have a better GPU. Most anybody but the biggest and most ignorant fanboys would not dispute that.
But you bring up a point that I rarely ever see, particularly here on the qj.net forums. The architecture of the Cell allows scalar, vector, and stream processing through efficient use of it's SPE's. What this means is that the Cell can do intensive graphics processing such as decryption and post-processing of high resolution video streams or full screen anti-aliasing or other graphic processing of a game that it is currently running on the Cell. This processor is a freaking beast and it's nice to see someone give it some credit.
I look forward to what the Cell can help the game studios do.
Apart from their being little difference in either demo, (though the 360 should of been compared with a game with more cars in it i.e F1 on PS3) The biggest difference is the usual one FORZA 2 is out in TWO weeks GT5 or whatever number its on now when is that out? who knows NO ONE. So even though I was going to buy a PS3 I am now going for the 360 because of all the games that are out and coming out, not games that maybe coming out at sometime in the future which is what is happening to the PS3, and I am also worried if I buy it its going to flop looking at how poor its sales are now (even in Japan) so im going 360 until the next round of consoles come out..
YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT I THINK! I think that the person driving in both games really sucked lol ^_^
There is no way in hades you can compare the crappiness of forza to unbelievable GTHD. The crapbox just pulled of it's last 360, it has nothing left, time to close the casket.
The PS3 only has one processor. On its lone processor it has one PPE + eight SPE's. Six of these SPE's are available to game programmers because the seventh is reserved for the PS3 OS and the 8th remains unused/inactivated in order to increase the yield of usable processors for the PS3.
i drove up to a crowd of people and watched them run around. in the replay they did the same thing. also the replays aren't fixed cams, you can choose them from all kinds of angles. lol you need to get a ps3 and stop reading into that 360 fanboy bs. your a tool. lol
This just proves you get what you pay for. Forza looks cheap next to GT, but it is running on the poor mans next gen console. I got GT4 running in 1080 on my PS2 and it looks better than Forza. The cars, the tracks, and the physics are so polished off. You want something cheap and rushed out the door get forza and a 360. You want some polished impressive game play and breathtaking graphics... PS3
Hellraiser made a good point, and you change the subject.
I'd rather wait to get a HD movie player and get the winning format, rather than gambling on it like sony told you to.
With an XBOX 360 I can play great games now, not wait for gran turismo another 2 years, and get a stand alone HD movie player when they are cheaper because I don't like the XBOX one.
this is an xbox game enhanced for 360, anyone who actually played the origional forza would know this the frame rate is higher and better physics thats it, forza 3 will have graphics built for 360 and if the sony boys want to talk about graphics pgr3 looks better than gthd and pgr4 looks crazy with the rain effects and forza is a better game than GTHD anyday after all the important thing is physics not graphics this is supposed to be a car sim after all
Having played both demos ALOT, I can say Forza is by far and away the better game. GT may have prettier cars, but smash into a wall, and just like the PS1, it bounces back in mint condition, Hardly the mark of a REAL driving simulator. Also, Forza actually feels like your driving a car, because of its far superior physics engine. GT still feels like GT1. It may look pretty, but its about as deep as a puddle. Also, WHY WHY WHY does the same car handle COMPLETELY differantly in the two modes available in GTHD? GT5 had better be good, because although Forza may not be graphicly amazing (Its still good looking), it is simply the more realistic, fun and simply better driving game. And I love GT, but I just feel Forza is better.
Forza to me looks better you might think that it's not because of the beautiful scenery in the back of GT4 HD
compared to a basic track. Lets break it down.
GT4HD FM2
Online NO YES
Damage NO YES
Simulator NO YES
I lost intrest after GT3 I gave GT4 a try but it was just annoying the way the cars drove it was like driving bumper cars. But the thing that I hated the most was rally racing in GT4. Please focus on one thing leave rally racing to Rallisport or collin series. When I drove a rally car the computer car would hit me from the back I would be penalized by slowing down to 35 MPH The computer would always do that on the last lap. Face it forza is the new king until forza 3 comes out.
Hellraiser made a good point about the PS3. Having played both demos, each has its own strengths and weaknesses. 360 version is flat on landscapes but has a nice gloss with HDR lighting on the cars. Cars is GT well... they seemed plastic to me. The physics in forza had a more realistic feel to it than GT, but I believe that is due to the fact is is complete and now shipping. This video however was deplorable and should not be used to judge either game. If you take either side just based on this video, its quite evident that you're a fan boy. Now to address this issue with you n00bs on this chain, particularly The One9889. Grow up. Your intellect really showed through by calling another a f'n retard. Having built computers for years I know tech specs for just about all GPU's on the market today. I have no choice in the matter since I build gaming machines for a living. Having both systems they each have their positives and negatives. "you really think that the 360 will ever be able to match the ps3's power?" What do you mean by "will ever" the 360 GPU is far superior to that of the PS3. 360 clocks at 500 mhz of 512mb of video memory. The PS3's GPU is just a stripped version of a nvida 7800 GT, running at 500mhz of 256mb of video memory. Another part of the 360's GPU that far surpasses the PS3's is that its 10mb edram daughter die. Not only does it handle all the anti-aliasing, but it allows more to be processed with out the side effect of lag. Another thing to note. The 360's frame buffer on its GPU is 256gb/s where as the PS3 is only 32gb/s. As for processing the ram of the PS3 is half that of the 360 and all us computer gamers all know how much ram plays the games that we do. Both systems run at 3.2ghz, however the 360 runs at 3.2ghz per core and it has three cores. The PS3 too has multiple cores but two are used for other things other than gaming and the ones left open one synced together and not separate, making it run only as a single core. Don't judge me for this article, I love my PS3, but the numbers don't lie, the 360 is more powerful. And further more, STOP THIS MORONIC ARGUING ABOUT THE SYSTEMS, THEY ARE BOTH EXCELLENT. I'm getting fairly tired of trying to read a review on a game from people other than the journalist and getting nothing but a list of spam of what system is better. A game is a game no matter what system its on. Oh something sucks because its on the PS3 or its on the 360. Come on people, grow up. And that saying goes for both sides of this idiotic console war.
For some reason out of my control, slash marks appear when I placed an apostrophe after a letter. Sorry about that people.
I build games. Bloom effect, what are you talking about. Pixelation is far superior on 360, so are general graphics on Forza. Now this isn't because the PS3 isn't a power house, its because if you know what you're looking at, GT:HD is cutting corners. Depth map shadows instead of ray trace. Even their ray trace shadows have less light refraction and light rays rendered. The trees, now can we go back and play GT3 and you'll see equal backgrounds. Pop up problems on GT:HD, smooth distance shots with Forza. Cars sound better on Forza, check out IGN.com comparison, they do a bad job with contrast ratio, but you can tell a porch is a porch on Forza, just listen to the shifting. I love both series, but if you're going to talk about graphics, you guys either need glasses, a way better screen, or some education about what goes into programing a game. HOWEVER, since I've worked with the cell, I have to give a hand to anyone who can make anything work, or look anywhere near that good while having to deal with that pain in the A..
Once Sony gets better Dev kits, GT5 will be smoking. It's the only thing holding a great system back. Sorry if I hit GT:HD, like I said, I love the series. Hope they clean it up before it come out!!
stupids they should try the full game instead of camparing DEMOS freaking idiots
i used to be a huge sony fan till i heard what the ps3 had and i knew it would be a crapload of money and i heard it was hard to develop games for. i love all the exclusives like mgs4 and god of war but i can move on to 360 exclusives like halo and gears also these games blow ps3 out of the water. the Gthd did look better for backgrounds maybe lighting but there was only one car and the game runs at 30fps when Forza runs at 60fps if they made it 30 fps imagine how they can make the game look maybe almost twice as good so shut up sony fanboys/ x fanboy friends cause i want to the dark side haha
the big thing that sucks in froza is that you dont feel the speed, when i was racing against my friend it showed 120 km/h but it felt like i was going 50km/h
