Far Cry 2 to be best shooter of 2008? |

Surfer Girl is probably milling about Moscone Center for 2008's Game Developers Conference (GDC), but only after slipping us a few hints of what to look forward to this year. The insider claimed that Ubisoft's Far Cry 2 (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows) is likely to be the top dog of shooters by the end of 2008 and she even said that it will supersede Crysis and the original Far Cry, though many may argue that it isn't Far Cry at all to begin with.
If this does become true, then this will be the first game (in quite a long time) to come out of Ubisoft Montreal that will garner sales, fans, and publicity like none of their recently released or to be released games. Or so says Surfer Girl, who is quick to point out that console versions of Far Cry 2 will only be graphically compromised when compared to the PC version.
So who takes second place? Resistance 2, says Surfer Girl, despite being Insomniac's "third-gen" title for Sony's PlayStation 3. The top three shooters of the year closes with Bethesda Game Studios' Fallout 3. But we'll get to see exactly what Surfer Girl sees in Far Cry 2, as she predicts a new trailer to boast the game pretty soon.

With all the great shooters coming out this year, I doubt it will be the best.
The tech demo videos on GameTrailers made me super excited for this game...before watching those I was barely paying attention to it. So far it looks great though
.....i was dying for Crysis to come out on consoles. but quite frankly, after watching FC2, i think EA can stick Crysis right up their ass
It could be the best shooter on the 360 for 2008. The PS3 has Haze, Killzone2 and Resistance2 up it's sleeves.
Thats saying a lot. That map editor better be simple put...amazing...
They have a lot of work in their hands.
Graphically, they have that down, no doubt this game will make you crap your pants when you see it in action. I just hope they can get better then Crysis with the story and try to remove the repetitive parts of the game out.
Multiplayer, even if they try to go down that road, needs work too.
Game of the Year, they have a lot of work to do to improve their game. oh and Farcry 2 on Consoles, they have a lot of optimizing to do, cause i doubt that Crysis would even work on a console. (maybe a ps3)
