Far Cry 2 skipping the PS3?

Far Cry 2 - Image 1Is something going amiss with the development of Ubisoft's Far Cry 2? Dutch website PSOnly has taken note of the fact that the publisher's official website lists the first-person shooter only for the platforms PC and Xbox 360.

A few months back, Ubisoft had said that they are still in the process of completing the development team for the title. Could this have resulted to a change of plans in the process, thereby resulting to the PlayStation 3 version being left out?

Of course, we'd have to consider all angles, so we're thinking it could be possible that it's just a matter of a web content error. Probably the site is just not updated? But when the blog for another multiplatformer was checked out, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, it did sport the complete platforms it was going to be in (Xbox 360, PC, PS3).

We've also checked out the British site for the game, and this one does include the PS3 version - Wii included. So Ubisoft, what's the deal with Far Cry 2 on the PS3? Is it a go or not? We're still waiting for an official word from them, and hopefully they will release a clarification as to this confusion.

Yet another qj post that scares me with no proper proof, qj, stop posting things like this without a massive RUMOUR: tag before it.

» word??

Silly QJ writers. Didn't the team porting the game to consoles say the Ps3 version runs slightly better then the 360 version???(may have been mercenaries 2) Also goto gametrailers.com theres a gameplay trailers for the 360 version and the ps3 version. I doubt they got the game running that smoothly and canned it at the last second. It is most likely just an error. They would not waste X amount of dollars to can a game running at a stable framerate already.

» bull

Infact as the above post states, the dev team HAS said before that the PS3 version was running extremely smoothley. i highly doubt they will cancel it.

» uhh

YEah... i read an article not too long ago where the dev team was saying it was running smooth as butter on the PS3 and that they had little to no problems moving it from the PC to the PS3.

by damonous - 2008-08-13 16:05
» We should start our own site...

Nice catch, tilla! ...But, if QJ's quality-check is that lax, maybe we should all start our own site. Heck, we could probably move a lot of traffic to it with the following article titles I propose (of course, each will have a question mark in the title, so we can say "Hey, we were just *asking* the question): "Gears of War II: Only For The PC?" "Killzone 2: Headed for Wii?" "Super Mario To Make First Appearance on 360?" ....as so on (you get the idea).

by z0m13ie - 2008-08-14 03:17
» @GW2

They should stick with their contuity of putting a RUMOUR: tag before it too, I want this article and any others to be fixed.

by nyr2k2 - 2008-08-14 03:47
» and

The official Far Cry 2 website still has it listed as releasing on the PS3.

by fatez - 2008-08-14 09:02
» hm

its still on the distributors list, so i guess there is no problem with this game.

by Mabie A. - 2008-08-14 11:26
» there's a difference

we can't just put in a RUMOR tag at the start of every article that's got no official confirmation because not all are rumors.

A rumor is when someone picked up something from the grapevine and passes it on to other people.

A SPECULATION on the other hand, is but some sort of rumination, or unconfirmed theory from someone who has observed something.

ie. If SurferGirl says a very reliable source from Konami has revealed to her that MGS4 will be ported to the Xbox 360 and all other platforms conceivable, that is a rumor.

but if, as in the case of this post, the official website of a game title does not include the ps3 in the list of platforms it will be shown in, when it was in fact announced for it, and the viewer of the site starts to question, wonder and theorize why the PS3 platform isn't listed, then that is speculation.

therefore. RUMOR tags are for RUMORS. Question marks are for SPECULATIONS.

i hope this clears up all that issue about rumor tags vs. question marks. :)
