Famitsu Boss: Expect a PS3 price cut

Enterbrain boss Hirokazu Hamamura said in a NextGen report that he believes that the PS3's price could drop by the end of 2007, following the console's indifferent performance in Japan's January sales figures.

Here's his words: "There could be a price cut for the PS3 by the end of the year, and more software titles will hit the market. I expect the PS3 to be doing better after a while. Of course, the Wii will keep running ahead all the while."

During the week of January 22-28, Media Create says that sales of PS2 hit 21,000 units while the PS3 sold around 20,000. In comparison, the Wii has sold over 80,000 units. The Xbox 360 sold over 7,000.

Enterbrain Inc is the publisher of the Japanese Video game magazine Famitsu - widely considered as the most respected video games magazine in Japan.
