We really wanted to get away from the typical portrayal of women in games, that theyÂ’re all just kind of tits and ass in a steel bikini. We wanted her to look athletic and fit and strong [enough] that she could do the things that sheÂ’s doing.
We wanted her to be attractive, but we didnÂ’t want her to be a supermodel. We wanted her to be approachable and far more real. It was just kind of depressing that someone thinks it would be better if Faith was a 12-year-old with a boob job. That was kind of what that image looked to me.
Amen, Farrer. Not every woman in gaming has to be a busty Lara Croft. What we have here is a school girl who doesn't even look like she can mount rooftops, even looking like she's the only one who'll get mounted. Besides, the game is in first-person, those who don't like the way she looks won't need to look at her. DICE wanted to get rid of the guns, and they want to get rid of the jugs too. That's a big cut in sex and violence right there.
I have to hand it to the guy who created the picture, though. That's some quality editing.

i think the second image looks a little more realistic...

if anything the original looks anorexic... which we all know is synonymous with supermodel.
the only way the second image is more realistic is if Faith were a tween that just hit puberty. The original Faith's face looks older, because she is, and like she has been living on the streets, taking scrapes ad bumps.
As for the breast/anorexic issue - have you seen professional women runners? they usualy dont have big breasts because breasts are fatty tissue and they base their diet and exercise at become as lean as possible and Faith nailed that look.

I understand where DICE are comming from keeping her "real" and all but I always thought of Faith as in her mid/late 20's....

i have to say the altered face is good but then again, it's more of an anime than real. the altered one is more like a dream face and believe me guys 'coz i'm asian, the original one is more real and more typical face.
the boobs shouldn't be big. the original one is more believable. the altered one is obviously a boob job state for most asian women. generally, women of asia don't reach such proportion.

for the one who commented about the altered Faith being a 12 year old with a boob job. hehehe... you may be right in saying the 12 year old part. but only for an american point of view. you see, asians don't age quickly. don't grow wrinkles fast and usually have dark skin as opposed to caucasoids whose skin is as fair as a shaven pig. i work in a government office now and i graduated in college nearly four years ago but an american guy thought i was a college freshman. for the altered Faith's face to look like that young is just normal for her to have an age of between 15 to 20. no offense but the asian's usually-petite structure helps in making them look young as opposed to caucasoid women whom some look like oversized cows and has given birth to five children before they even reach their 20th birthday.
Look at it this way in a business perspective, without the 2nd latter picture, the game would not have sell well. Guess what my supplier tells me? The game is nice except for the "face" that doesn't really kicks. The fact is everyone there is an equilibrium that gauges the beauty in all situations. Imagine a physically "PLUMP" & "Slender" lady standing in front of you guys asking for a date, who would you choose? The first thing comes into your mind is "Slender". That is the priority.
And if the game don't sell on the first priority, it means it will die sooner or later. It just needs touchup and makeover. Producers are in fact encouraged to accept talents where another is capable of and buys their story to incorporate into own designs. Not discriminate and stubborn adhere to own perspective. That shall be the way to improve and progress. Think about it. "Why does games dies?". Reasons: Absurd graphics, Worst gameplay, Worst sound effects that affects the sale of the product. Please do not compromise and adhere to own thinking when majority votes for the best. Most buys news and no one or few bothers with monotonous gestures.

I liked the face, and the guy that edited forgot her signature tattoo under her eye. Not only that =/ I did not like the fact her boobs has to be bigger, they were fine the way they were.
BUT here is my combination of the two images if anyone wishes to look lol. It was for fun, and I made sure to stick in her tattoo. I'm not saying that she should look like this though, but thought it was interesting to see how the two images can work as one.
