Eyes on the price - Sainsbury selling Modern Warfare 2 for only GBP 26?

Sainsbury's - Image 1While GameStop and Activision are busy with the whole broken street date issue in the United States, Sainsbury's apparently decided that breaking the street date just isn't as fun as breaking the retail price point. Gamer Limit is now reporting that the UK retailer now has Modern Warfare 2 at an unbelievable price of £ 26, which is only about US$ 44.

Makes you wonder if they're gonna make money at all out of this. Activision announced that the game's RRP was set at £ 54.99 (about US$ 92) in the UK, and Sainsbury's is selling it at less than half that amount. No word, however, on whether the price is for the PC version or for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Any readers out there in the area who could confirm? What a steal that price would be.

» ps3 !@ xbox

price is for both xbox and ps3 , but a lot of folks here in the uk are waiting to see if further reductions will appear tomorrow when other super market chains, have there usual day of release price war .and a good example was fifa 2010 last month, which went down to £24. pls note they class this as a loss product, but recover the cost through additional sales made from other products bought in the store, at the sametime as mw2.

I can definitely confirm that it is £26 for ps3 and xbox 360, not sure how much it is for pc.

my dad works there, i just phoned him up and he confirmed that it is £26, which means he can get it for me with 15% staff discount

oh and to be able to get it from makro you need to own a business or at least have a makro card. which most people in the uk dont have.

» Interesting.

Oh, wow. I wasn't planning on getting the game, since they decided to charge extra and that I have already purchased three games in October, in three consecutive weeks.

But, now I'm tempted. But then again, I lost interest with MW2 long ago and wasn't that excited. But, £26...

Unfortunately, I don't have a Makro store near me, never even heard of it.

But, like Technowhizz said, there may be further reductions through different stores. Although, they would've been adverts in the paper by now.

» Ordering online is so much easier

I, somewhat, do want to buy the game now, but I don't want to have to stand around for a midnight launch, and I won't really have time in the morning.

» Get a bit more off at currys and pcworld

Here's how tell them the sainsbury offer and get a price match and minus 10% of the difference.

£44.99 - £26 = £18.99

£18.99 * 0.1 = £1.899

So it should be £26 - £1.899 = about £24.10 lol

PS. the service at pcworld is generally crap

Even better... $39.99 USD @ Walmart.com with purchase of a $20 gift card (which will be used to purchase M$ for map packs).
