Extra-bloody: Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3) Bullet Blasting gameplay video

Epic Games' Mark Rein earlier confided to the Sony PlayStation 3 fandom that their port of Unreal Tournament 3 was going to be slower than its version for the PC. Needless to say, we imagine there were plenty of fans who were worried this would equate with a blander frag experience. That might not be the case, however, based on a UT3 PS3 gameplay video we've just picked up.

The game does feel a tad slower based on what we're watching. Visually speaking, the game's grit and detailing shine through - although the slightly jerky movements lead us to presume this was played on a SIXAXIS. Consider this video a teaser for UT3's expected romp into North America's PS3s by this December 10. Happy viewing!

» uh...no...drop the fantardism

Why would this game boost sales for the 360? Marc Rein stated they aren't even starting development of the 360 version till after the release of the PS3 version...so it's gonna be awhile.

It's going to sell like crazy on the PS3 for one of two reasons, or both:

1. It's an amazing game that's a must have

2. People still might not feel there are must-haves for the PS3...but this is one of them.

And being it's right at holiday season could possibly be a system mover.

» Nice non-facts there JRM...

Development has been going on for a long time on 360, and Rein has already stated they have a running version of it on 360...just that they are taking a break for the holidays and resuming development for the 360 after...

Also, the game is going to be released in limitited quantities this holiday season, and not everyone that wants one will be able to get one for the PS3 (even with the small amount of people who own PS3's, never mind new owners)

So no, it will not be moving PS3's this holiday....

» Keyboard and Mouse support for PS3 unfair?

Isn't the inclusion of being able to use a keyboard and mouse for this game unfair to us who will be playing this game with a controller. I mean, with a keyboard and mouse you'll be dead accurate with those head shots.

» not quite

no offense dude, but thats kinda the idea...

most regular players of the FPS genre swear by keyboard and mouse controls... the greater accuracy and control over your character adds to a more sophisticated playing style... Unreal Tournament 3 is a PC port so its not an unfair assumption to say it'd probably play better with it's native controls, and the same is true of a lot of console games using the unreal engine... games developed specifically for consoles from the ground up (like timesplitters and halo) work great on a controller because the controls were tailor made from the ground up, rather than making compromises...

Im rambling here, sorry... if You are worried about getting Pwned by keyboard and mouse users, get yourself a keyboard and mouse... even if your not, you should get one all the same, making use of some of your consoles fine features (messages, web, etc)... or just use the keyboard and mouse from your PC...

I dont see the inclusion of said items as unfair any more than people having naturally different playing ability is unfair... it makes the playing experience more exciting...

and this is my final point, I apologise for the long post, multiple control schemes add some great depth to titles such as this, as some people prefer playing in one style to others... like warhawk allows you to pilot your vehicles with either your thumbsticks or the six axis tilt, technically greater precision and combat ability are possible through the tilt controls, but the majority of players prefer to use the sticks... likewise, lot of people prefer to use controllers to keyboards, and prefference accounts for a lot!
