Exclusion of Force Feedback on PS3 To Affect Immersion's Revenues |

Even though Sony will still support the Rumble technology in its PS2, Immersion admits that should the technology be excluded once and for all from the PS3 controller, its revenues would definitely be affected.Should this come to pass, apart from the loss of revenue from PS3-related sales, it would be safe to assume that other parties would feel less need to incorporate vibration controllers in their own consoles, potentially shrinking the market further.
The company, though, states that they still have a stable source of revenue with their growing business in automotive control, medical simulators and cell phone space.
Immersion and Sony are still trying to talk things over, though. If any progress will be made at all, then there's a big chance that Immersion's TouchSense can still be used in the PS3's controller. Any such action on Sony's part will also give gamers something more to look forward to when the PS3's finally released.

Some games benefit greatly from it, but with most games, i either dont notice it, or its kind of annoying. Fighting games for example, its an annoyance, i always turn it off, because it vibrates a bit too often. Other games on the other hand, use it so sparingly, it might as well not bother. Lik Ok has said before me, it would be nice if they manage to put it in (there is still time) but im not going to lose sleep over the matter if they dont.

I know my descriptive narrative is rusty, probably to the point of lock-jaw, but i hope you get the idea. Rumble may not be nessicary anymore. Technology has brought forth more innovative ways to pull you into the game. Rumble pulls from the sense of feeling, its also one of the easier senses to block out. Do you feel the nail in your foot from the nail gun before you see it? Do you feel pain from a gunshot wound immediatly if you dont hear it, let alone see it? Howbout the constant 1ton pressure of air pressing against you from above? Feeling is a concious effort of interaction, Sight and hearing goes deeper into the stem of our brains.

#11: Again WTF! You lost all hope in a system because of Rumble feature isn't included. What other things made you loose hope, because it can't just be rumble feature, or this would be the stupidist thing I ever heard. Wow, just wow!

anyway, by suing Sony, they burned a bridge that will not be easily built again, and it's led them to *less* profits than what they sued for. maybe if they had settled with Sony, they would have been more willing to license the rumble tech from them. it's kind of a prison of their own making. Sony will do just fine without the rumble, wheras, the rumble is *all* Immersion has. if other companies were to follows Sony's lead, they would be in trouble. sure Microsoft and Nintendo would have rumble, but if their consoles don't sell large numbers, it's kind of pointless to continue in the rumble business.
