It's a race! Of motors! In a storm! - Image 1Their MotorStorm game isn't even out yet and they're already talking about sequels and the next game on their list. Always with the enthusiasm, but never with the release dates.

Game Zone recently had a forum chat with some of the key members of Evolution's MotorStorm, and aside from confirming some of the things we already knew, they also brought out some hints of wanting to make a sequel, or at least a new game.

In addition to confirming the 720p business behind MotorStorm's resolution and some clarifications regarding online play, they also expressed hopes of making a sequel. It seems they're expecting their game to do well, enough to help fund a new game which they hope will use up even more of the PS3's power. When asked about how much of the PS3's memory they're already using, they replied,

We are using all of the SPU processors and all of the memory. We also use most of the Blu-Ray disk (thank God it’s not a DVD)! We are confident, however, that we can still squeeze a great deal more out of the PS3 and as we found by making World Rally Championship for the PS2, every year for five years, doubling the visual through put is not unusual on EVERY ITERATION – yes, it even amazes us!

All in all, it's a very informative read, though not as exciting as seeing some of that intense dirty racing we've gotten used to from promotional videos. First things first, however: Evolution Studios, get your MotorStorm out ASAP!

I like these guys, eVOlutio studios and their game is really nice! i just wished the bikers/atvs could use weapons in addition to punching, but this game is really nice, i can see it getting a 9.3 or something on IGN

» Wait and see

Hmmm 9.3 on a game that you have not played ? sounds like you are going by hype, you dont know how this game will play it might turn out to be a pig,

And NO RUMBLE well its going to feel like permanently driving on ice and that will be deducted from the score no matter what.

» cool

Well, that cool that a developer is so enthusiastic about developing for the ps3 even though a lot of others talk a lot about the difficulties of this and that and blah blah.

Hopefully the final build will look even better than the demo that we've all been playing.

Well... actually it's out in Japan already, no? Can anyone give their impressions on it?

» Say hello to the era where people have sound systems

with subwoofers! thats the purpose of the LFE channel in 5.1! For those who dont have a good one or cant turn it up high enough then you're SOL just like you are without an HDTV for either console. I prefer my entire body to be shaking instead of just my hands when a grenade goes off beside me. it just adds to the realism. Rumble + Poor/Restricted persons bass

» Bass lol

LOL Bass as Rumble !!!!!!!!!!!! er no I dont think so.

Grenade ? this is a driving game isnt it ?.

» Not very high especially the forth one

In the Japenese Fumitsu magazine it got -

8,8,8,6

These are Four score 1 for each reviwer.

For comparison this is the score BLUE DRAGON for the XBOX 360 scored in the same mag -

9,9,9,10

Has a point...you can use a good sub for rumble, but most people don't live alone with their big subs and therefore can't turn them up.....also it's not as subtle as the rumble in your controller....you can tell the difference between whether you are getting shot, or if it's environmental rumble...etc...

once again , this is just a first gen game for the ps3.....

» Using all the SPU processor...

Sounds to me like there is a developer out there that knows how to use the ps3 - unlike EA who just keeps *****ing.

"Thank god it's not a DVD"

SSSSSHHHHHH....

by truth - 2007-02-10 12:31
» actually

I was really upset about the removal of rumble. But to be honest I don't even notice its not there anymore.

It's not as big of a deal as I had thought...

Just my two cents.

» you're stupid

how exactly does comparing two completely different games in different genres help indicate a future score? zero my friend, the same as your I.Q. i believe.

» aa nm

I found some sources, thanks though.

I trust Gamerankings well enough with its 88%.

It gave Blue Dragon 89%.

Pretty good for both games!

by lansingone - 2007-02-10 19:59
» what do you meen quint?

your talking like we have not been playing it since the PS3 launch. the demo blows me away, i would think the full game would be even better. i could see it getting a 9.3

by OneTwoMany - 2007-02-11 03:50
» First Gen

Means nothing for a delayed console, so it's pointless comparing it to first gen titles on other consoles.

Besides, we don't play future games, we play today's games, so whatever gen you think a game belongs to means nothing to gamers who are interested in how good a game is WHEN they're playing it.

» coming from a first party sony developer....

They were probably refering to a regular DVD, not DVD9 with nearly double the capacity. There's no reason whatsoever this same game could not fit onto a DVD9. I'm sure they used the space just because it was there though. While converting PS1 games to PSP playable format, I found many PS1 games have a rediculous amount of filler, which I found a way to extract. Then after compression, the actual game is less than one fourth the original size. More space can make it easier on developers, but doesn't make the game better, period.
