Europe being left out of Home, users pissed

Angry mob!!! - Image 1The US and Japan regions of PlayStation Home have been getting new stuff and spaces left and right, while the European Home isn't getting as much. Users at the European PlayStation.com have expressed their ire over being left out and are now demanding answers as to why SCEE hasn't been bringing new stuff in.

Other than the basic features, Euro Home has yet to have spaces for Far Cry 2 and Uncharted that US users have been enjoying. Japan already has Siren, Everybody's Golf, and is even getting lounges for Namco Bandai and Nippon Ichi. None of these are in Europe, nor has there been word of these spaces coming soon.

User Dan-Camz at the Euro PlayStation.com forum airs his questions as to why and how Euro Home does not get the same quality service that the two other regions have been experiencing. "What's going on in SCEE? There is practically nothing to do in the Europe Home," he posted.

Other users have been more blunt about the situation. User chelski4life wrote, "I am absolutely outraged! £ 545 for nothin, Japan = exclusive content, America = movies, TV shows, EU = we get everything late and it's all crap!!!"

Users have resorted to logging into US and Japan Home, for obvious reasons, and that those Home regions actually work. Right now, they've set a petition in motion to get SCEE off its ass and start giving European users the same Home quality that's being enjoyed by the US and Japan.

We'll keep you posted on how this petition is answered by SCEE.

More news on stuff that Euro Home isn't getting:

The US got the new Central Plaza and and 2 Game Spaces. UK got one, which is the Theatre. All in all, none of those compares to Japan. Japan got the most new stuff. They still have 1 extra space (not including game spaces). Japan's Central Plaza is the same as the closed, but now it has snow everywhere and a x-mas tree, which is pretty cool if they change it every season. I think the only thing that stayed the same was the Bowling Alley.

Anyways, exclusivity is just stupid, especially when it's on the same console.

i dont / yet do understand the 3 separate region spaces. Everyone has different taste and Sony tries to accommodate each region.

But, because there are better things in different regions, Sony should just merge all spaces together and make separate regions in one server.

People who speak japanese could go to that region but yet be visited by US and Europe. It will be like Orlando's Disney with different cultural regions in one space.

It would cause less problems and to a point be the reason and purpose to have home - "Meet New People".

I know there are siren fanatics that would love that space in the us or europe server. To me keep the ideas of creating spaces to each cultures taste yet merge them together.

I agree with you're statement - exclusivity is stupid on one console.

It would have less problems and less attention to other servers.

You're missing the bigger picture, b*tch!

We're ALWAYS behind with hardware releases, game releases and PSN Store content, and now this custom has spread over to HOME content too.

It's not just about Unchartered and Far Cry spaces in HOME, it's the SCEE in general!!!

Are there really people out there with only one account? Why?

When it's so easy to set up American / Hong Kong / Japan account why not, I have, I even had a go at creating a Korean account, but I think that one needs your Social Security number or something.

If every European spent all their time on the other servers SCEE might get the idea.

@Matt-N: Ok, so Europe is behind a bit. That's also a HUGE geographical chunk of the planet to cover! A lot more than the States, and a whole lot more than Japan (essentially, a large populous island). So before you get your panties all in a bunch, think of that! :-) ....And, for the record, being in the States means that I also had to import copies of Motorstorm, Gran Turismo Prologue, and the Dualshock3 --back in-the-day. But you know what rocks? ....The fact that I *could* import them and use them in a different region and without hacked hardware (as every previous generation required)! Guess what: so can all of you in Europe. And, as someone mentioned above, if you can possibly find the mammoth amount of energy required to ...setup a dummy PSN account for another region... you could actually be playing/using all this ***FREE*** stuff in Home, as well ....instead of having a cry party! ;-O

Americans buy shizz like crazy. The consumers here are thus more powerful. In Japan their religion is video games, so obviously they will get more stuff too. Out in Europe you are just a bunch of conservative b*tches who dont buy as much stuff. So you can't blame SCEE for not taking action in a non-profitable area.

I'll stop 'crying' when I play a game and don't hear f*cking annoying Americans bragging about how high they're ranking in a given game because they've played it a month longer.

Yes I can import. Hell, I can even bring games back with me when I go to NY, but we're talking of 'principle' people!

And like it's also mentioned above, is importing a Christmas tree into Home Square that difficult? And no, I'm not bothered about a bloomin' tree - again, it's just principle!

So waaaaaaaaaaaa to you too lol!

And for what it's worth, it's a load of poo anyway. We can't even connect it to our Sky receivers and view all the channels available. It only receives the 'free' channels.

I'd trade it for a Home Christmas tree any day lol!

That we are pissed about, anyone that thinks that all this uproar is JUST about home, your wrong. This is about all of SCEE services. We ALWAYS get the short straw. DLC is late, betas arent available, demos, videos from the psn store ect are restricted or unavailable, so the last thing all you americans should be doing is telling US that we should stop whining, if you were in our situation, you would be running your gobs and going mental that you didnt get the latest christmas tree in home square!

we probably/did pay more for our ps3's then you, but yet we are the ones getting snubbed by sony. why should we be forced to wait?

Setting up PSN accounts for other regions is so damn easy. Just look on the net for anybody's address whether a residence or a business and fake you name. The rest is simple. After that, there are websites that let you create virtual credit cards that are funded with your own credit card and the funds that you load can be converted to pretty much any currency you want. Meaning you can have a card with Japanese Yen or U.S. Dollars. Then you can go to the store of your choosing with your shiny new credit card and you can get all goods you've been missing out on.

Another option would be to import PSN gift cards for their respective stores, but that process takes too long and shipping and handling will cost you more than the fee for loading funds on your virtual card.

That's a good idea n' all, but doesn't really help for the games that are Blu-Ray only.

Most people know that process, which could help for Home, etc - and you're right, but this article has been hijacked to moan about the European and SCEE situation in general.

europe has been let down on the network from day one, we are put lower than the other countries and have to pay more, even more than the xbox live versions, sony will always do this yet all they do is give themselves bad press, unfortunately if you talk to someone on the helpdesk you lose all your anger because they are so friendly and helpful, but this is sonys way on covering up how much their really conning us becuase were in europe

It's run like a village town hall, not a powerful IT company. It's not just HOME, it's everything - we still don't even have a release date for SF2HD, and we don't even merit an explanation. PSP content is crap (I import at least 50% of the games I have for the console) the PSN is usually late or missing entirely, and we pay more than anyone else in the world for worst service.

Their advertising is also the worst kind of University graduate bull***** - I've worked in promotional strategy for Masterfoods and I know damn well when an advertising company is taking the piss.

HOME was supposed to be the great unveiling, and in no time at all it's proven to be greatly lacking. I couldn't find anything worth doing when I was using the BETA, and I've not loaded it up again since my first go.

I have no problems with the product, I love my PS3, but the service from SCEE is verging on the incompetent. Someone needs to get in there and start adding to the unemployment figures by sacking every last useless peon in the place, and hiring some talent - there's plenty out there hungry for a job.

# Its EVERYTHING!!!NakedFaerie 2008-12-21 02:23
It's not just home thats left out. Down here is Aus we get EVERYTHING last. You guys in USA jsut had Rock Band 2 released right? Rock Band 1 has just been released here. How f'n stupid is that!!! Of course I got a pirated version of RB1 and RB2 as it'll be another 6-12 months before it comes here.

I said multiple times before and I'll say it again If Sony release Home in the state it is then it will fail. After 2 weeks of open beta and its still in this state I can see it failing very quickly. And after finding out they are charging you for stuff I see it failing right now. There is NO WAY I will EVER pay cash for a shirt in a BETA crap thing like home. This is way to stupid of an idea. When EVERYTHING is in there and its final then yea, charge all you want but while its in the beta and empty stage you are just shooting yourself in the head with that thought.

$ony, you f'ed up bigtime and Home has failed. You wont be seeing me in there for a long while. After having to redownload every place again and thats for every region I go to there is no way I will even bother with the next update. You can count be out. I was a beta tester for home but as its gone crap I quit.

Why is anyone complaing about anything at this point? This is not the finished package of Home. People are associating the name "Home Beta" like it's the official title and it has been officially released. The software is still in development, but the world caught wind and it created so much publicity alone from excited Playstation 3 owners that, upon public beta release, it created reactions of nothing more than "it's ok," and "nothing works." I've been so blown away by all the people complaining. You don't get enough content, Europe? Guess what, you are bugtesters. We are ALL bugtesters right now. Anyone care to pay attention to the fact that Sony didn't publicize the release in their newletter? That's because it's not finished yet! The copy that we all have, in short, is a BETA. "BETA," meaning a sample of planned released content. It is still unstable, unfinished, and is intended to be distributed to select parties for aid in bugtesting and familiarization prior to final polishing and final public release. The fact that you aren't getting the content over there, is because it isn't "STABLE" yet, and it is "UNFINISHED." Does this make sense? Of course Japan has most of the content. Japan, according to the laws of technology, will always get anything tech based before anyone else. Hence the PS3 being released by Sony, based out of ....JAPAN. You will get the content when it arrives to you. So instead of crying over nothing, reduce the banter. They are working very hard to promote the core idea behind this software. If you force them to rush it, then it will turn out like the Xbox360. That whole system of software and hardware wreaks of failure, and it's way too conceptual to really grasp for our generation. Sorry about the tangents, but seriously--stop it. Be happy that we finally got a taste. Use the software and report bugs. If you have connection issues, then report that too. You act like you deserve to have this. The console has paid for itself in games and "other" content since its release. For those of you who claim it was a waste of money to buy the system because, "I bought it for Home," go play in traffic. You have the be the most retarded person to try and pass off a lie like that. You bought the system for 3 reasons, just like everyone else: Blu-Ray, Games, and because you hate Microsoft.

The world of Ignorant Noobcakes who forgot what Beta meant has just been served your PWN papers.
