Enterbrain Prez: MGS4 and FFXIII could save Xbox 360 in Japan

NetMunch News reports that the president of Enterbrain the publisher of the famous Famitsu Magazine, Hirokazu Hamamura has stated that he believes that the Xbox 360 could be a huge success in Japan if Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII were made for the Xbox 360.

NetMunch claims that Hamamura believes that the two mentioned titles - if made for the Xbox 360 - could save the console in the Japan region and even help it be as popular as it is in North America.

NetMunch even goes as far as to claim that "Sony is losing support from its own nation."

Oddly though (and contrary to NetMunch's assertions), the report at GameFront.de of Hirokazu Hamamura's lecture in Tokyo seemed to focus more on how to help the Xbox 360 in Japan, instead of a declaration of support for the Xbox 360 over the Sony PS3. Naming ways to help save the Xbox 360 is far from declaring withdrawal of support for the PS3.

Not that Hamamura didn't have anything slightly negative to say about the PS3. In a later report over at GameFront.de the PS3 side of Hamamura's lecture was covered and again those two key titles were mentioned and labeled as crucial to Sony in it's effort to gain market shares.

Hamamura also notes that Cell chip manufacturing price reductions could help the console and it's world-wide situation. Hamamura notes that the situation isn't that good but it is far from hopeless.

i not really sure how the development of MGS and FF are going right now but by all the articles i'm reading it seems like it's going to be hard making it fit into something which isn't Blu Ray when the games are finished...

and with all the talk about both games challenging the Cell and maximizing the processor... i'm not a techy person but all i know is that the XBox doesn't have the Cell Processor... i don't know how they could properly run any of those games on the XBox...

i would prefer mgs 4 2 come out on ps3 and ps2 than for it 2 come out on the 360. theres more ps2's out there than any toher console and if u want 2 play it in hd buy the ps3 version. not sure if it can be ported 2 the ps2 or not.

If it indeed does happen, life will go on. Don't bet on MGS 4 however, Kojima made that very clear. While these games are considered big releases, they're not what will define the PS3 in the in end it will be down to first party support as it's always been. Take a stroll back in time and look at who's always been the one to initiate things. Back in the days of the PS when the analogs were first introduced, people and even companies where apprehensive to use them because they were so used to the D-pad but along came a game called Ape Escape which catapulted the use of the dual analogs and so will be the tale of the PS3. Once Sony starts putting out titles that show what PS3 can do then other companies will follow in persuit. I'm not saying these titles don't look amazing cause they do (specially FF XIII) but they're not what's going to define the system. As far as them going over to the box, well so what? They get to enjoy two great games. Why must everything be turned into a contest of who has the best? Video gaming is about having fun and enjoying yourself, as long as you're having fun what's the matter with someone else doing the same thing?

There is no chance that the 360 will get MGS4 .

Hideo specifically said that MGS4 is built around the Cell processor and no other machine has the hardware he wants and needs for the game.

He compared the PS3, 360 and wii as: PS3 - Movie theatre - Xbox 360: DVD Player and Wii, TV Channels.

Hideo says what he says... so too bad for non-ps owners.

As for Final Fantasy .. Sony won't lose it's exclusivity. That's one franchise that no1 else can have... but who knows

And really... japanese people would buy a PS3 over the 360 to play that anyway...

yes the xbox 360 can do mgs4 and ffxiii.

maybe 480i graphics ONLY. if they try to match the 1080p 0r 720p ps3 version, the xbox360's cores should work triple hard. they an port those games to xbox 360 but again a lot will be sacrificed, details will be lost and i mean lots of details. overall display will be darker as usual, its as if they are deliberately making things dark on xbox 360 so that it can match the ps3's graphics without people noticing that they made a lot of textures black, its actually less textures hence less quality. people are really thinking the xbox 360 matches the ps3 gfx but in reality it is inferior in every way.

That's the big problem with exclusives(for Sony, anyway); a game can only sell as many units as the consoles that've been sold. PS3 sales are by no means dismal, but the fact that so many have customers have turned away from this console(less so in the US, but a LOT of customers), I don't think Kojhima will get tjhe overall output he wants. I wouldn't be surprised to see a slightly watered down version released later on the 360. I don't think they'd release it within a year of the other though, that'd just be killing the PS3.

MGS4 Could run on the 360. It could also be ported to a Commodore Amiga with enough patience (and cutbacks!). It would just look best on the original platform, just like all the ports have so far for every games machine and computer throughout history.

I like to buy Hardware to play Software that was developed that platform from the ground up.
