Electronic Arts dodgy on Mass Effect 2 for PS3 |
Ó
PlayStation 3 gamers get the short end of the stick yet again. When asked whether Mass Effect 2 will arrive on the platform, Electronic Arts replied "There is no information on a PS3 version at this time." Did Microsoft bag another timed exclusive?
The question of exclusivity erupted yesterday when EA sent out a press release officially announcing Mass Effect 2, saying it was "coming to Xbox 360 and PC in early 2010." No mention on a PS3 release anywhere in the PR. And since Microsoft has made the habit of paying off studios for exclusives lately, it won't be surprising to find out if they managed to pull it off with Mass Effect 2.
If they have, most likely it'll only be a timed exclusive though. The game's too big not to release on the PlayStation 3, and EA CEO John Riccitiello has hinted before that they plan to release the game on the platform. We'll just have to sit it out and see.

funny that every game on 360 would look SO MUCH BETTER ON PS3! but who care they can have this one I didnt really like it
I think it's pointless to bring this game to the PS3 if they don't port part 1 for the PS3, unless you already played it on the 360 or the PC and don't care.
I would rather prefer Dead Space 2. This game is great though I suggest people to play the first one on the PC if you don't have a 360. But if this does get ported to the PS3 I doubt they'll add anything like Team Ninja is doing for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. This is EA we're talking about.
Hopefully they'll release it to us sony boys if worse comes to worse just get your computer to run it and stream it to your ps3. thats what i do with the original mass effect
Played the first one on a friends PC but can't say I enjoyed it much. Am sure theres other PS3 owners who want ME2 but I've got plenty else to be looking forward to.
There's just features which will not be able to work with PS3. ME2 has a feature to use your ME1 save with the sequel like your leveled up characters and the story is directly involved from the first one pretty much kills any hope for this game coming, unless they port the first one. Which I don't see happening any time soon. Check here to see my point. http://www.gamegrep.com/press_release/18985-mass_effect_2_early_2010xbox_360_pcstory_gameplay_outline/#c114630
I mean all im waitin for is Heavy Rain and God of War 3 the other games dont count because the 360 is gonna have them as well and i rather get it for the 360 because the achievements give it more replay value.
stop acting like a homo.
the fact that most multiformat games look/run ever so slightly better on the 360 compared to the ps3 (even when ps3 is lead format) proves that there's not much to seperate both consoles. anyway, shame about mass effect 2, but I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it to the ps3 eventually.
Link you are beyond ignorant, firstly to say "multiplatform games dont count" is just very stupid, do you only play exclusives? did NathanDrake say "ive got plenty other exclusives to play"? NO More to the point, there are plenty of exclusives to look forward to. Isnt the name NathanDrake a clue? Uncharted 2!? MAG? Demon's Souls? Gran Turismo 5? inFamous? Rachet and Clank: Future 2? Under Siege? The Agency? Do you need any more? We have all of these to look forward to? As well as GOW3 and Heavy Rain..
...if Microsoft eventually 'shot themselves in the foot' for their strategy of buying timed-exclusives (presuming that Mass Effect 2 is 'timed' and not a 'permanent' exclusive). There are getting to be a lot of games that are delayed because of that or other reasons, and wind-up being the definitive or improved version (Alone in the Dark, Bioshock, etc).
I would be awesome if it came out for the PS3, but it would be pointless if the first one isn't ported. I kind of wondered why Capcom even bothered to make DMC 4 and RE5 for the Xbox if the Xbox hadn't had them at all to begin with. Now if they made the previous games downloadable on XBL that would be awesome. Besides, Microsoft and Bioware had the Mass Effect trilogy contract in place way before EA bought Bioware. ME was Microsoft and Bioware's collective baby and I seriously doubt MS will let it go so easily. So maybe Microsoft still has the rights for the console version and EA has the rights to the PC versions... I'll have to wait and see.
Achievements give it more replay value? Isn't that the same for Trophies?
For DMC4 and RE5, they probably assume that majority of gamers had a PS1 and PS2.
PS34me is full of crap. NO cross platform games look better on 360, and I don't even know how they could possibly "run" better. That you even claim that "there's not much to seperate both consoles" makes you sound ignorant. Both consoles have their strengths, and people have their preferances, but graphic wise, PS3 owns hands down.
ptspyder, what do you man which games? most cross platform games DO look better on the 360 than the PS3. Fallout 3, Dead Space, Star Wars, Soul Calibur, GTA 4, COD4, Devil May Cry, and even Mirror's Edge which was first designed for the PS3 and then ported to the 360. Still I admit, the best graphics I've seen in any gaming console so far (not counting PC of course) has been Killzone 2 on the PS3 (though Gears 2 graphics come pretty close), but the fact is that most games run way better on the 360 (mainly because it uses REAL CPU cores, and because it has unified RAM). Hopefully, third party devs will learn how to take advantage of the Cell Arquiecture soon, but meanwhile we'll be seeing better performing games on the 360...
Ummm... God of War is a Sony Computer Entertainment Game... I know for a fact Sony will not be porting it to the Xbox
You're the one who is igorant here. That's not an insult, that's a fact. Gamers like yourself are typical with your uninformed denials, because you seem to be incapable of looking beyond what compaines like Sony tells you. both the 360 and ps3 are GREAT consoles, and I would happily have a 360 if I didn't have a PS3, but the FACTS ARE FACTS. Open your eyes! Look at EVERY multiformat comparison test online and you'll see the same pattern EVERYWHERE, which is the 360 versions being slightly better than the PS3 versions. eurogamer.net and gamespot.com have been running these comparisons for YEARS, and its still the same story in their latest comparisons. read through years worth of their comparison tests here (over 18 for eurogamer, over 4 for gamespot); http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/xbox-360-vs-ps3-face-off-round-18-article http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6201700/index.html http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6191251/index.html ttp://uk.gamespot.com/features/6171831/index.html http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6162742/index.html If you're still in denial, pick a group of games from the dozens mentioned in those comparison tests and look for reviews and comparisons elsewhere online. So, you were saying? :)
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/face-off-resident-evil-5-article (I'll leave you to look for reviews and comparisons elsewhere) So you see, it's the same pattern as before. And please don't reply with a list of reasons on why this is so, because that's another discussion altogether. The point here was that for MOST multiformat games, the 360 versions are slightly better than the PS3 versions. This is a fact, and therefore to attack someone for stating that fact only reveals your own ignorance on such matters, especially when you go claimed that NO multiformat games look or run better on 360 (*rolleyes*).
Hate to admit it, but PS34ME is right. Multiplat games mostly look better on Xbox360. However, The majority of games are identical and the differences are such minimal a normal gamer wouldn't notice. Only if you look very closely you will notice the differences(I exclude shoppy framerate here), but you should play the game instead of comparing. So why care about marginal differences if you could play a great game on both consoles?
are just overzealous fanboys. no matter what one say, a fan will always be biased/blind to his/her system of choice. a 360 fan will always say that the 360 version has advantage over PS3 version and vice versa. in reality a multiplatform game developer would always balance both version as much as possible, and given that no multiplatform game has really proven to be really much much better on one console in more than 2 years, i can safely assume that both consoles are somewhat equal. even if it is possible for the other console to be better, a game developer will always balance both versions. this generation is unlike the SNES VS Genesis era where there are technical limitations that easily shows why Genesis games are inferior to their SNES counterparts. and about the topic, i simply think EA is waiting for the exclusivity payment from MS, and given they don't outright deny the PS3 version, it will just be a timed exclusive. one reason why MS is not that eager to pay must be the not so blockbuster sales of the first one. and the PC version will always be better than the console ones.
thats one disadvantage sony ps3 cannot reclaim forever... the XBOX Live 1 year lead which translates to people having many friends to brag their achievement points to. the ps3 trophy community is just not that big compare to the xbox live achievement community. and most people who owns both platform will usually buy the 360 version due to the reason stated above.
EA can easily put a ++ game mode where a gamer will start with a level (ex. 45) pertaining to the average level of users who finished the first game on pc and or 360. of course there would also be a normal mode where you can start from scratch. ME2 is not an expansion, EA cannot force gamers to play ME1 first. ME2 will be totally playable even if you didn't play the first one.
tons of games jumps platforms on their sequels. ace combat 6 star ocean 4 ridge racer 6 they port and or switch console because of business/money reasons that are perfectly valid. diablith tour reasons are pointless, do you really mean 3rd party NES game sequels should only be in a nintendo console? ex. final fantasy, contra, graduis etc
Heh, randomness. Anyways, yeah obviously Microsoft seem desperate enough to bribe developers, whereas Sony have releationships with developers to have exclusives. But, however, both companies suck. The only reason multiplatform games look better on the 360 is mostly the developers fault and not utilizing the PS3's capabilities, I have both systems so I'm not a fanboy and too be honest, the PS3 has some really really awesome games with fantastic graphics, but the multiplatform games seem to lack on the PS3. Also, game's shouldn't about graphics anyway, they need to focus on veering away from that repetativeness you see in EVERY game. Or at least give us a decent story to keep us playing it for. (Saints Row 2 is greater than GTA4) ^^. I don't really care about seeing the texture of a tiny grain of sand, or a piece of paper floating about in the wind. Give us some decent games already. Oh yeah, but this is about Mass Effect never coming to the PS3.. sucks for PSusers. We pay more to get less, awesome. We've got MAG to look forward to though.
i wholly disagree with you to be honest. While the 360 community is certainly more developed at the moment (in terms of achievements/trophies), that can only grow to an extent that has some meaning to it. By that I mean, that after a while, its so big anyway it doesn't matter if it grows any more. Achievements are there, trophies will reach it to. So IMO, definitely not an advantage they will hold -forever-
