EEDAR: Xbox 360 scored more hits than PS3 this year

That's right, Xbox 360 has had more hits than the PS3. This isn't just Black Friday, we're talking 2008. According to the Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, it was thanks strong exclusive titles, such as Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead, that Microsoft's console put on a great show and is looking forward to say goodbye to the year with a big grin. The PS3 wasn't as fortunate, according to the report. The only PS3 exclusive that performed up to par was Resistance 2.

The Wii is a different story altogether. It's still on top, with Animal Crossing currently leading the charge.

For November, EEDAR believes software sales would be US$ 1.34 billion, up 3% year-over-year. They did point out that November this year only enjoyed two days of the holiday shopping frenzy, compared to last year's nine since Thanksgiving came earlier.

That price drop really helped Xbox 360, too. But Sony wasn't so keen on lowering its hardware prices, so it became a decisive, console-purchasing swing in favor of the Microsoft console.

Wouldn't call this news more than it is fuel for a flame war. That being said, I'll start. Congrats Microsoft. Having the forsight to lower your console price and score a few "exclusies" by being the more familiar console to port PC games too really paid off. Especially since you didn't have to screw over consumers by not including serial ports and backwards compatability just to "lower prices" for your console. Funny how it doesn't say that on the PS3 boxes. Anyway, keep up the good work.

» Yeah

It also seemed like flame bait to me.

Funny, all this talk about Xbox hits doesn't persuade me in the very least to get one. I'm used to the PS controller, and I'm sticking to it. The Xbox controller is only good for shooters.

» Hits from where ?

Primarly Gaming Sites ? Retailers ? or the internet as a whole ?

If it's the internet as a whole, I could see lot's of those hits being people trying to find out how to fix problems with the 360, or researching how widespread those problems still are....

» holiday rumble

need i remind people, it's the main time of the year for holiday shoping in the midst of the most brutal console war that has ever taken place,

people need to keep in mind that this economic crisis doesn't just effect america, for the most part the entire world economy is in recession,

these console devs have to really fight for your attention in times like these, they need "your money" in "their pockets" to stay afloat.

it's not beyond either dev to falsify facts and figures to sway public opinion.

i've never heard of this eerdr organization,or

but i stand by the statement that if they where a modestly important organization that couldn't be bought off, then i and more people would have heard of them by now.

but as it stands, an organization most of us have never heard of, seem to support the 360 with facts and figures that can not be confirmed,

we are supposed to just take this strange new organizations word for it?

hmmm,,, fishy fishy..

What the hell are you talking about? Did you read anything passed the header? By "hits" they mean high-selling and popular games

yeah, seems like they also forgot LittleBigPlanet , too.

On top of that, they use the worst performing exclusive this year as a HIT.

I would say fĂșck this site.

The only reason i clicked on this "article" was because i had just finished reading on another site that in all of 2008 ps3 had the most games that were above 85% on the metacritic overall reviewer scores. Heres the quote:

"Breaking it down by console, PlayStation 3 has the most presence on the list with 22 titles, followed by Xbox 360 (20), PC (15), Wii (8), DS (7), PSP (2) and PS2 (1)."

and here is the link http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/27/meta-metareview-the-best-reviewed-games-of-2008/

» I Think....

By hits they mean games that sold a *****-load, just like in music. Now keep in mine, just because a game is a hit, it doesn't mean its good. If we're talking about good games here I'd say the they are about tied.

» sigh Fanbois

Sigh at all you fanbois u cannot accsept PS3 has a hefty pricetag and if losing the console wars because of it, 360 price tag is reasonable which gave it a good boost in sales but the WII caters to a large group of people such as people who are new to gaming or for people who are bored with controllers and want to try something new.

Dont get me wrong im not a WII or 360 fanboi but i know PS3 is losing this console war and maybe all u other PS3 fanbois need to accsept it too!
