eBay has taken strict measures against users attempting to sell PS3 units in both the US and the UK. As of yesterday morning, British eBay members have been forbidden from selling PS3 consoles and games on the site until February 2007. No "munnies" for opportunistic British PS3 owners for now.
It doesn't stop there though. Come February, each seller will only be able to offer one PS3, and it must be purchased within the EU. One must assume that this is in strict accordance to Sony's tight import policies. Sellers must also guarantee dispatch within 30 days and can only accept payment via PayPal.
Over here in the US, only sellers who have already taken part in 50 auctions or more and have at least 98 percent feedback may offer PS3 pre-orders. Sellers must also guarantee 30-day dispatch, provide a photo of the pre-order receipt and list items as auctions rather than "buy it now" items.
ebay has said that these measures have been put in place in order to avoid a repeat of previous console launch situations.
There are also reports that Japanese gamers are purposely driving up the price on PS3 orders to dissuade buyers from purchasing consoles. This is to disrupt the practices of sellers who queued up to but a console for the sole purposes of reselling them. Are the poor Chinese men who queued up vindicated? Perhaps. Should western gamers do the same? Well, that's totally up to you guys.

The title is so dumb and flamboyant, your really stretching it. It should say "eBay puts restrictions on selling pre-ordered PS3's." Because you are lying when you say "eBay blocks users from selling PS3 units," because you can still sell PS3's.
Lemme jsut say hahahah to all those people trying to sell their ps3's for profit because now your stuck with em. Now its obiovus most of you people who sell em just want £1300 (about $2000) just to buy another ps3 and lots of games or keep some of the money, but now you only have a ps3 and you have to work for ur games like everyone else does.!
I was all freaked out but heres the low down: the UK people cant sell ps3s till Feb. when that happens they will be subject to the same rules as the pre-orders here in the US. people in the US can still sell pre-orders under the previously established rules. also, once it comes out yesterday, since you wont be selling the pre-oder, instead the ps3 itself, you probably wont have to follow all those stupid rules they put in... like showing a receipt of your pre-order. poor wording, big scare, from qj.
Sorry to ruin your bubble of happiness but ebay is not the only place to sell PS3 for profit.
