EB Games manager: We will stop selling PS3 20GB models |

Is the 20GB model of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) going to be extinct in the future? We're not too certain on what's the real score on that, but judging from the rate that things are going, it is highly probable. In fact, just the other day, we learned that the online shop Sony Style US just pulled out the said models.To add to that, we got a tip today from Kaizer_911, a manager for the retail chain EB Games, that his company is no longer purchasing new stocks of the PS3 20 GB model. According to Kaizer_911, the revelation was made through an e-mail from the company's higher-ups and the reason given was that "the demand and interest in the 60GB model out weighs that of the 20GB model."
Mote interestingly, Kaizer_911 went on and divulged that EB Games is currently devising a way to honor the PRP (warranties) sold on the console's smaller model. Another e-mail was sent, accordingly, in relation to this and part of it reads,
If a customer is trying to claim the PRP on a 20GB PS3, and your store doesn't have any, nor do any of your other local stores, you MUST email Store Operations of this issue and we will send you one from the warehouse within 2-3 days. This is currently how the PRP replacement plan is going, we are still looking into other ways to honor these PRP customers should the warehouse no longer have stock of the 20GB model.
A couple of weeks ago, it should be remembered that Best Buy admitted and confirmed that it is finally removing the 20GB model from its shelves. Uh, Mr. David Karraker, where are the 20GB models allocated for North America?
Meanwhile. in case we missed anything, here's Kaizer_911's full message:

Because PS3 is already loss by production but it will less loss profit if you reduce 60GB rather than 20GB where the hard drive is only about $30 different.
Let say about $200 loss on 60GB system after $600 sold ($800 to make):
20GB use without $30 addition for 60GB and $40 for Wifi
Save $70 for 20GB system but with $230 loss
($800 - $70 = $730 - $500 = $230)
It is high possible Sony may reduce $30 to $50, maybe more than $50 if the laser start reduce the cost.

And apart from 2 games on the PS3 (both of which are from the original PS1 there is not that much of a list to look forward to this year and the 360 list for this year is better for me anyway...

for the xbots you can have all the fuel u want (anyway FPS are only for those deprived of any relevant childhood memories)... put in all the add-ons u like to make ur console comparable to the ps3... in the end u'll only have a souped up hyundai...
and blahblah... just try to understand their "crashing" man... i mean it's a hyundai!!!!

anyways if you are not interested in ps3 games that are available and coming soon, feel free to purchase the console of which you feel will give you happiness and pleasure. if 360 has it then gogogo. but as a full gamer, i advise you tohold on to the ps3 coz its gonna be gaming madness on october to december 2007. i myself wouldnt wanna be left out when that happens and it will.
