They're not saying anything about the PS3 Firmware issue, but they are saying something about the next console cycle. Electronic Arts, through Chief Creative Officer Rich Hilleman, is saying that they expect Sony and Microsoft to bring it all out in their updates for their existing hardwares before launching their next-gen consoles."I expected we'll see a PlayStation 3.5 before we see a PlayStation 4 and an Xbox 560 before we see an Xbox 730," he said. He also delved in the aspect of online gaming, saying that it is increasingly becoming more significant and important in the industry.
"The biggest shift is how fast packaged good games are changing and going away. If I want to go to see the past of gaming, I go to Japan. If I want to see the future, I go to Korea."

Japan still makes TONS of awesome games.

are like Rap, there are tons of the same thing, repeatedly being released, and it isn't even any good. they are mass-producing random games too, just for the "unique-ness", but care not for the actual entertainment...
Develepors get more lazy every round it seems.

not 560.
Jeez. At least we now know why a lot of EA games seem to fail. Not all mind you but a decent amount.

And plus, you've seen Microsoft go through console updates like it is their JOB. From the original, to the elite, to the arcade, they have been pumping out babies like Sarah Palin's daughter on a Tuesday.
Both companies need money. Both will unleash loads of redesigns and upgrades for their console. They need a foothold in the current industry before they need to bring out the next generation.
which also leads to Nintendo. Nintendo currently is RAPING the industry. I don't care what you say, they have enough of a grip around the Gaming Industry's neck to come out with a new system.
I am not saying the wii is good. Nor is it bad.
But Nintendo struck gold. Something that Sony AND Microsoft missed. The casual market was unearthed by Nintendo, and they got what they wanted... Money.
I, personally, expect to Nintendo to drop out a new console in the next 2-3 years. They are loaded enough to do it, and now that they have publicity, people would sell their souls for a "Super wii" of sorts.
I expect Nintendo to release a new system way ahead of Sony and Microsoft, because of their current standing.
In this day and age of gaming, we are beginning to see a new era emerge.
The gaming industry is not just being revolutionized, it is being SPLIT. From the standard, hardcore gamer; and then the casual gamer. There is a rift being created. Soon, Sony and Microsoft will be two completely different companies when compared to Nintendo, simply because of their business stance.
And, if you had a ***** fit because this was to long (tl;dr), then here is it in short:
Nintendo new console: 2-3 years, because of raping the gaming industry,
Sony + Microsoft new console: 5-6 Years. They need to gain momentum over one another. Competition is a good thing.

Well, I agree to some extent, the newest NFS games have been horrible in my opinion, but what does it matter if a game is low-budget? Army of Two was decent, and it was nice to play with a friend.

Microsoft's has just re-packed the same console with a bigger hard drive and whatnot, it's not actually any new hardware. If I bought an Arcade Xbox 360, I wouldn't buy an Elite because I have no hard drive. I'd buy a separately packaged hard drive for the console..
So in that sense, Microsoft hasn't yet announced any new versions of their Xbox 360 (if we don't count different revisions like the Jasper etc.)
