shining shimmering EmmysIt sure is embarrassing when you pick up a wrong award. And that's what Sony must be feeling right now. After announcing that they won an Emmy for their Sixaxis pad, Sony is now offering its apologies, citing miscommunication as the reason for the wrong information disseminated.

As it turns out, while they did win an award, it was for their Dual Shock pad, and not for the Sixaxis, as was believed earlier.  The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences issued a statement correcting the issued statement by Sony. Says a spokesperson, "I would like to confirm that they did not win for their PS3 controller, they won for their Dual Shock analog controller."

So where did all the confusion come from? Sony says it stemmed from a miscommunication between the two organizations. Now releasing a new statement, Sony stands corrected. "In a press release dated January 8, 2007, SCEA announced we had been recognized by NATAS with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for the Sixaxis wireless controller."

Well, at least they didn't pull a Michael Jackson on that one, receiving an "award" that does not exist.
