Divnich on PS3 and Xbox 360's match in the U.S. |
Ó
Sony's own dark horse, the PlayStation 3, has finally gained ground after its Blu-ray player won the format wars, and has even trounced Microsoft's Xbox 360 in the February NPD charts. It's quite a turn of events, and the party's just getting started. And of course, it's not only us who's interested. Jesse Divnich of simExchange is following the sales numbers in the gaming industry as always, and here's his take on what's to come in store for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in the coming months for U.S. sales.
As shown in the chart above, simExchange's prediction for April is in favor of the Xbox 360 by only a small margin, and because of this, Divnich said that both consoles actually have an equal chance of getting ahead of the competition. However, he also added that neither of the consoles will "claim victory over each other" as this year ends.
So what else is in store for the gaming industry? According to the analyst, after Sony managed to nab the win in the last format wars with Blu-ray, its to be expected that Microsoft will make the next move. And what could it be? Most probably a price slash similar to what Microsoft did recently in Europe, or bundling units with topnotch titles.
Either way, we can be sure that there won't be a lull in the world of gaming any time soon. Check this space for more updates!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the word Sold imply that it has already happened? If that's true, then why are there figures for March and April? Shouldn't this read "predicted Sale Ratio"???
