Now that we've seen official images from the Prince of Persia movie
starring Jake Gyllenhaal, the franchise is setting its sights on
another domain to conquer. The Disney Book Group has announced that
they will be working on a Prince of Persia novel anthology based on the
Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer film, Prince of Persia: Sands of
Time.Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner will be writing, with Todd McFarlane in charge of the art. The 128-page, full-color graphic novel will feature six original stories and will serve as a prequel leading to the events in Sands of Time.
The Prince of Persia graphic novel anthology will publish on April 2010, a month before the May 28 launch of the movie. It'll be available on both hard cover and paperback in its 125,000 first print run. “We are thrilled to publish Jordan Mechner’s book debut,” said Jon Yaged, VP of the US pubisher, Disney Book Group. “We have developed a fantastic publishing program for the Prince of Persia film release and this graphic novel is an incredible cornerstone.”
Mechner, McFarlane, as well as a few other names close to the project, including Bernard Cheng, Tommy Lee Edwards, and Cameron Stewart, will shedding more light on the subject at the Comic-Con on July 24th.
