Digging in that knife deeper: New Yakuza 3 screenshots and videos |
Ó
As if to taunt us some more, Sega's released new assets for the Japanese-only-for-now game, Yakuza 3. We've got several high res images for the game right here, and it shows some of those wholesome RnR mini-games we've reported about before. There are also a couple of very extensive video trailers to wedge that knife a little deeper into our backs.
In the screenshots we see a view of the golf courses you'll be playing at (oh, am sorry. I meant they, not us), as well as some karaoke action, apart from the real action complete with elbow moves. And kids. Lots of them. The videos, on the other hand, show the Japanese Investigation cinematic trailer and the Japanese Battles gameplay trailer.
Oh, and by the way, since it's not coming outside of Japan anyway, the trailers are in Japanese, of course. And not subbed. You can settle for admiring the graphics, though. Enjoy. (cue scream of frustration: GAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!)

This game is beginning to look like a GTA game. SEGA, get to work on a Western version!
I don't get why people compare this to GTA. You can't steal cars in this game and this game has a better storyline but the gameplay isn't better than GTA. This more of an RPG and a fighting game put together. GTA guns are main weapons here it's fist or anything you pick up.
people compare this to GTA due the massive environment immersion . not as sandboxed as recent gta games but it totally portrays what its like to be in such a place, japan in yakuza's case. story wise, yakuza games have much deeper story than most gta games, heck yakuza 3 story is a continuation of yakuza 1 + 2's story. so for those who havent played yakuza 1 and 2, you still have lots of time to play it before yakuza 3 gets translated. Sega will port this game outside of japan eventually, the japanese sega spokesperson they ask was just uninformed about the Sega US plans, then the dumb internet website reporter took it as a "NO its not coming to US" when all the japanese Sega spokesperson said is "i dont know what are sega us (non-japan) plans." i will be patiently awaiting the english version of this game. i liked the translation style of Yakuza 2, japanese voices intact with english subtitles. this is how they should translate yakuza 3, include all the original japanese audio please.
I've always preffered they keep the original japanese voices with subtitles....in movies or games. I see the GTA ref, GTA isn't just about stealing cars and shooting people (although it seems like it sometimes). However, when I watch this it reminds me alot more of Shenmue than it does GTA.....but I guess for the mass media and public, making the GTA comparison is better....cause most people would be Shen-what ?
if they really dont release this in the us, i think this would almost be as devastating if they actually released shenmue 3 but didnt release it here.
