Deus Ex 3 - Image 1“Kind of Slow,” said Jean-Francois Dugas, the lead game designer for Deus Ex 3 (PS3, 360), when asked to describe the original Deus Ex to Edge magazine.

“There weren’t enough exciting, memorable moments. It was aimed more towards a simulation rather than a game experience,” he said. This is something he plans to change with his version of the RPG-Shooter.

While I completely disagree with him (I’m biased. Deus Ex 1 can do no wrong in my book), he did promise not to “dumb down” the game so I will refrain from calling my friends to form an angry mob for now.

Dugas went on to explain that the features and complexity typical of Deus Ex will remain intact but there will be an effort made to make the controls and the interface a bit more simple without risking its potential. One has to assume from all this that the next Deus Ex will be getting a treatment similar to the System Shock-to-Bioshock evolution, which is not entirely a bad thing, I suppose.

There's talk about Deus Ex 3 coming to the consoles but no word on which ones precisely. The full interview comes out on Edge magazine tomorrow so you might wanna grab a copy of that too.
