Details: Tom Clancy's EndWar is total, global (networked) war on your consoles |
Ó

This may literally be the biggest Tom Clancy-licensed game ever. Details of Tom Clancy's EndWar popped up at GameFront.de, and while the Google Translation is, well, marred enough to make a German Army drillmaster blush, context can be understood to give the following details:
Remember the persistent online multiplayer mode of Chromehounds? That's it. That's EndWar. "Each player participates in this one, world-wide online campaign," with the victor being the one who can conquer his two faction enemies. Those three factions (or parliamentary groups) are: the US Joint Strike Force, the European Enforcers, and Russian Spetsnaz. (No word if Ghost, Rainbow, or Splinter Cell will make any appearances. Ghost is part of the US military, although available as a NATO unit; Rainbow is, at least in the Ryanverse books, a multinational force operating within the NATO framework, and Splinter Cell is in the NSA. These parameters don't make it easy for these groups to make - at least - any playable appearances, not in this kind of game.)
Based on what GameFront has mentioned about EndWar, and given the arguments presented in "The Gospel of Strategy Games According to Consoles", me likee, me very likee.
EndWar is envisioned to be a real-time strategy game - but the developers seem to emphasize that they are not making a Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth II (and by extension, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars) PC-to-console RTS. The camera is tied to the unit-level (like in Full Spectrum Warrior). In fact, if we read the translation right, this game is meant ONLY for consoles.
The player is in charge of a battalion - GameFront says battalion. And since you're fighting with - or against - the world, you can personalize that battalion down to its "coat of arms" (I think you mean insignia, GameFront), its slogan, its structure and abilities. "There is a language command system, which controls each aspect of play." Squad command-by-voice? Time to practice those command-quality voices, troops. These soldiers are described as smart enough to exploit cover on their own. Finally. An RTS where macro is emphasized.
GameFront lists seven types of individual units: riflemen, mechanic, tank, transporter, helicopter, artillery, and command vehicle. Not mentioned if the vehicles have to be manned by your soldiers, if they can be called in by your soldiers as support (different thing entirely), or if they are organic units of their own. Your men receive veterancy and experience the longer they survive; lose one man, he and all his experience is lost - and in this kind of gameplay/combat, that can be dangerous.
The game is directed by Michael de Plater, formerly of The Creative Assembly, and was formerly involved with the Total War series. This definitely sounds like good hands for the game to be in.
(CAVEAT EMPTOR: Except for the game logo, pictures used in this article are not - REPEAT - are not from the game. Personally, I believe pics aren't forthcoming until EGM's June issue scoop. Instead, pictures depicting aspects of modern war were used as placeholders. What, you wanted to read a boring block of text instead, soldier?)

This might be a cool game. btw 1st!! w00t !!! lol.
the idea of "compounding power" is kind of scary when your unit's experience resets to zero every time they die. could you imagine the advantage better players will have by both being better and having a squad full of awesome leveled up units from owning everyone.
It wouldn't be too hard to imagine opposing sides spotting the opposition's star players and targeting them for "de-experienization " to knock them back a few levels, either using their own star players or feeding the "fodder" players to the maw. Depends on how the players organize themselves online, anyway.
is this game going to be full online only, like warhawk is going to be, or is it going to have a single player?
When I visit online gaming sites like QJ and others, I read so many many many many comments and forum threads which are purely about Microsoft Vs. Sony. Since I’m not a fanboy for any one particular party (because I own all consoles: Wii, PS3, X360, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, DS, PSP, and a gaming-PC), I will talk about exactly what to expect from the major console makers (I’ll only discuss on X360 and PS3 since these two are the major leading parties in this so-called next-gen console war).
Let’s only talk about impending titles (before Sep. 2007) due to the fact that it’s absurd to dispute about those titles which will be out like 1 or 2 years later.
For X360 fanboys, my recommendation to you is to buy PS3 consoles, period.
(Only the blockbuster exclusives from now to Sep. 2007)
- Ratchet & Clank: Walt Disney meets Pixar, expected review score: 92

- Mass Effect: (in 2008), score: 63
You fanboys now understand why you need to buy both X360 & PS3. In the last-gen war, statistically PS2 dominated the planet called the earth based on the number of consoles sold (5: 1: 1 = PS2: Xbox: GameCube ratio). That was why Sony fanboys only had to buy PS2 and never needed to buy the original Xbox. All those countless number of exclusive triple-A titles were on the PS2. However, in this new-gen war, so many professional analysts predict that the winner will not dominate the whole industry like the PS2 and PS1 did. That’s why so many 3rd party companies don’t make exclusive titles for either Sony or MS. Most of them go for multi-platform to earn most dollars. Because of this fact, there will be no absolute and dominating winner in this war;
dude only r-tards would buy a ps3. and 360 has WAAAY more games coming out than what you listed, and not only that buy you listed all the ps3 games high and the 360 games low.
if only you knew how big of a turn off it is when people like you post the long puffed up posted that you post. even on the slight chance that i would even concider wasting money on a ps3 (which i wouldnt cause i have a brain), after reading all the bull you tried to slide into your post it makes any thought of wanting to own a ps3 disappear.
i mean, would you like it if someone kept shoving flyers into your mailbox that lists all the great things about Ford trucks? no, and youd probably develope a stronger hate than you had before for Ford trucks. just lay off man, if someone wants a ps3 they will get one. its just that no one wants one, so stop being a priss.
THANK YOU who ever wants one get one if u dont or all ready have them SHUT UP who cares
Now with all the games you named for ps3 why would any dummy get a 360 now. I can understand the people that bought one before the ps3 and Wii came out, but why in hell would you get one now. The 360 is a peice off crap that breaks down every 4-5 months. not mention the high price of XBL, mosts of all the games for it will be out on the ps3, and sony has the biggest catalogue of exclusive games. Let's not forget about HOME. bottom line ps3 has quality and will have a huge amount of exclusive games.
OMG facking retard.. the 360 has lot more games comming then the PS3 , PS3 has just a hand full of good games like MGS, FF, Godofwar. thats it. I meen Ratchet + Clank a 92 points wtf, the games suck ass.
What does post a PS3 vs. Xbox 360 have anything to do with this article? Your the idiot. Go post this crap on the Xbox 360 site, not here. Most of us have a PS3, thank you. I'd rather read some comments about T.C. Endwar. Not this crap.
u r absolutely a ps3 fanboy u stupid little moron! xbox rule this planet!
lol digital dragon talkin about another fanboy
Final Fantasy games score around 93, Jak and Daxter have been declining since the first, Ratchet games have been around 92 with the exception of deadlocked. You stated God of War 3 will be the highest rated game of all time. Bioware makes fantastic games, no way will Mass Effect get a 63. Same for Silicon Knights and considering how long Too Human has been in production i'm expecting 88 or above. Killzone was horrible, what makes you think the sequel will get a 97? And you listed several games we know very little about in the 90's: afrika, heavy rain, uncharted, getaway, eight days, and resistance 2.
In conclusion, you are an idiot.
