Details revelead for EA's new Command & Conquer FPS - Image 1According to Game Informer magazine's January 2008 issue, Electronic Arts is currently developing a sequel for their Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium wars RTS on the Xbox 360 and PC.

Unlike its predecessor, however, the new title will be taking players on an up-close-and-personal experience as an FPS. Yup, we could very well be looking at the second installment of Renegade. The new shooter is currently labelled Tiberium.

The magazine mentions several other details regarding the game, such as your character, your opposing factions, and the basic plot (so far). The game apparently takes place 11 years after the events of C&C3, where you play as Ricardo Vega, a GDI officer who's just been pulled out of retirement.

Vega commands the Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment (RAID) team, where they're deployed to the Mediterranean Red Zone formerly under NOD control. As for opposition, it appears you'll be facing off against new Scrin units, such as the Shrike, a knee-high gun drone, and Archons, what appears to be a heavy infantry.

For your side, Vega gets to wield the GD-10, a four-in-one weapon system built to adapt to any possible combat scenario you run into. The game also reportedly gives you command of infantry squads, missile infantry squads, and new versions of the Titan and Orca. You also reportedly receive bigger support by way the "Orbital Slug", which sounds a tad like the Ion Cannon barrage from the strategy game.

Game Informer further indicated that Tiberium for the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 will carry single-player and 2-player online modes, with EA currently scheduling it for a late 2008 release.
