The title of Deadline Games' latest action game is intriguing in itself, but the main protagonists of the upcoming Faith and a .45 and the premise behind their road adventure seem oddly familiar somehow.
Faith and a .45 tells the story of outlaw lovers Luke and Ruby as they travel cross-country, battling the minions of a ruthless, corrupt oilman during the Great Depression. Deadline Games, the creator of Chili Con Carnage, is developing the title as an "intense and atmospheric shooter" for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 consoles.
With the context and the setting as such, expect a gaming experience akin to that of a road movie. Deadline Games' CEO Chris Mottes emphasized Faith and a .45's focus on characters and cinematic storytelling as follows:
Since we at Deadline have our roots in movie production, we value original stories, settings and characters very highly. Our previous games are testament to this, but we believe Faith is going to take our creative might to a whole new level.
If Luke and Ruby haven't reminded you of Bonnie and Clyde by now, then perhaps a closer look at the game will jog your memory.
Speaking of which, Deadline Games will be presenting the game to selected publishers at this year's Game Developer's Conference gaming event San Francisco this coming February 18-22. Unfortunately, it's by invitation only, so other players will have to wait a bit longer before they can finally try Faith and a .45 out.
