david-jaffe-1Someone's been waxing sentimental, so it seems. While David Jaffe has been busy running his new studio, Eat Sleep Play, it does not mean he's totally turned his back away from his past works. In fact, he longs to see a remake of his previous gems.

Specificially, the very first God of War title. And apparently, he's got quite a very detailed imagination as to how he would like the remake to be done given the opportunity.

"And to answer a question that I imagine someone may be thinking: yes, I'd LOVE to see a remake of a game I've worked on in a few years. Take God of War I. Do it with better graphics, add new puzzles and characters, twist the story a bit, fix the stuff that sucked, redesign Kratos (bad ass in 2035 is gonna look a lot different than bad ass in 2005).

I got NO issues with this and I think it woud be very cool. Ideally they would retain the core of the game (violent action witha  strong central character and a blend of accessible combat mixed with some puzzles and platforming all set againt the backdrop of the ancient Greek myths). As long as they didn't walk away from that core, I'd have 100% no issues."

Would you like to see a God of War I remake come 2035?

I dont think I'll care by 2035. I'll be in my 50s and my kids wont know what God of War is. And Gaffe will be a senior citizen by then and more than likely retired completely from the biz.

Boy, I am sure glad the boys of id weren't thinking like that when they decided to remake the old Apple ][ classic "Castle Wolefenstein.

Technically there are God of War remakes. If you count the God of War collection (which I do) .

I love GoW I the wayy it is. We already have it in HD... why would you screw with it?

Just make a new game entirely. One that fits before Chains of Olympus , or between 1 & 2

If you watch till the end of the credits, you'll notice Kratos' body has moved, you see his bloody trail leading to the sea. He's also got the golden fleece which heals wounds (in mythology) therefore he has nothing to worry about. He just needs to find some thread on the beach and stitch himself back up, put the fleece over the hole and lay there for a few hours, then all will be fine. Just an idea.

He stabbed himself because Athena wanted the power with which he killed Zeus, which happened to be hope. Instead of letting Athena take the power, he killed himself unleashing it upon the world and who is left in it, considering Kratos left a hell of a mess in the wake of his revenge, seems like a pretty decent gift for the people of Earth.
