David Cage: Heavy Rain most detailed game so far, possible because of PS3 |
Ó
At one point, he says that Heavy Rain is probably "the most detailed game I've seen so far," a feat "possible because of the PlayStation 3." He also says the game has a 2000-page script. If that isn't pain-staking detail for you, you have some high standards there buddy.

But I STILL don't know what this game is actually about..
Quantic's really hush hush about the game. All I know is that it's a game that's all about storytelling, and it's story will involve a murderer. I think the main character is a detective? Not sure. From what I've seen, it's gonna be a really cool game though.
Agreed. It looks awesome.
But I disagree with the comment about it only being possible on the PS3. A PC can handle this with no problems. You can even give mid-level PCs users a go at it by allowing them to lower the res.
How many PCs have bluray? Multiple DVDs is not an option cause it increases publishing costs
That plus it's a non-linear story to be on multi disk. Kind of reminds me of those books that you could choose the way the story went. Sounds cool
@Techni - Are you serious? Compress the uncompressed audio and bring the graphics to a normal resolution. After that ANY BD game can fit on either 1 or 2 DVDs. For PC, 2 DVDs is nothing.
More then on disc increasing plublishing cost is a moot point. You can upgrade the packaging to cost more per unit then adding a second disc.
true, but that's also the reason why MGS4 was only on ps3, because Kojima didn't want it to be multidisc. there are barely any multidisc games nowadays, unlike 8-10 years ago. it's also true that it would increase the publishing cost, AND, for them to make profit, they have to sell the game to a higher price (maybe double?), but no one would buy a game that costs more than the regular games given that regular games are already expensive.
as for the developer, i believe he's only saying it on the 'ps3 vs xbox 360' notion. if that's the case, then it's only possible on the ps3. i wouldn't call him an idiot, simply because even us, non-developers, already know that the PC is the most powerful gaming device, let alone developers of a game.
of them wanting to immerse the player into the story as much as possible, and to do that they want the graphics to be as good as possible.
They don't want their baby downscaled to "low quality" at 1024X768 so some person with a junker PC can play it. Also, programming the game to allow changes in detail generally hurts the end product. It doesn't allow for as high of a technical bar as they could have reached just programming it for one system....
Who called anyone an idiot?
Heavy Rain looks awesome and all but uh..
Killzone 2. KILLZONE *****ING TWO.
'Nuff said.
what should i say about the ps3 that we all dont know. the ps3 is amazing and does a lot of things that the competitions aren't able to do. heavy rain looks realistic and awesome only because its exclusive to the ps3 . im glad the devs can utilize the cell chip broadband engine and also make use of the space that blu ray allows them to use.
people or a lot of gamers dont realise that having there games multiplatform often times hinders the quality of that game, either because the xbox 360 isnt powerful enough like the ps3 or 8gbs of space shortens game content. look at the exclusives. i like gears 1 but i hate gears 2, in the level in gears 2 where you run through a burning building made of wood, the whole time i played the level it lagged. the game chugged along at about 15fps for like 20mins, i thought i was in the matrix. gears 2 has alot of glitches and slow down along with stupid ai that covers on invisible walls. gears 2 is a good game that could have been awesome if it were on ps3. i love a solid quality title like gt 5 that runs at 60fps in 1080p. forza 2 runs like 30 at a lower resolution with less car on the track. forza might be 60 but not sure but the cars has a 1/3 of the polygon count as gt 5 cars. ps3 is the future and you can tell by the features and exclusives.
g o w 3, heavy rain, uncharted 1+2, motorstorm1+2, resistance 1+2,white knight story, ratchet and clank, mgs 4, infamous, wipeout hd, the punisher, killzone 2. these are high quality games that you wont see with as much high quality gameplay and graphics if they were multiplatform . ive even heard fanboys say they'll rather change multiple discs than to have blu ray, lol, thats stupid. i love my games well made with good graphics and gameplay without slowdowns and thats why i prefer the ps3. and remember , the ps3 is the most reliable next gen system . xbl/psn-dylantalon. im in the killzone 2 beta and no other game on xbox360 looks as good or plays as good as killzone 2 in terms of realism. i asked my girl jessa if she was from killzone 2 , cause she is the prettiest thing in the world.
ps. the talon stands for talented
