David Cage confirms: Heavy Rain demo is coming |
Early 2010 is gonna be huge not only for PS3 gamers but also for Quantic Dream in particular. This is when Heavy Rain will be coming out, and there is undoubtedly a lot of expectations for this game. Will it go over and beyond the expectations set up by the discriminating gaming public? Maybe the demo that will come out will give an idea.David Cage confirms that there will be a demo coming out, but the issue is more of what's going to be in the demo since the game does carry a lot of varying scenes. In an interview with G4TV, he explains why they're having a difficult time deciding what's going to be on it:
We are currently working on a demo, which is a real challenge. Finding one scene that can convey what we are trying to achieve with Heavy Rain is something really difficult. If we show an action scene, some players will think that this is what Heavy Rain is all about, and it is the same thing if we show an exploration scene. The problem is that each scene of the game offers contextual game play, which is something very difficult to explain and convey in a single demo.
Demos are often a double-edge thing: if you don't release one, players might think that you have something to hide. We also know many good games that ended up not being massive hits because the demo could not convey the quality of the game behind it.
Because Heavy Rain is a anew concept and since many gamers will want to check what it is before buying it, we will be releasing a demo. We just need to find the best scene for it.
Heavy Rain has been given the release window of Spring 2010, and since the demo's content is still up in the air, it would probably be safe to say that the demo will be coming out around the first few months of the new year.

So many great games coming out, I can easily spend $500 in the next few months and be satisfied. I hope the Heavy Rain demo is free, because with all the great games coming out, a great demo is helpful in luring buyers and if the demo is convincing enough, I will put Heavy Rain toward the top of my list.
to how narrow mindedly some gamers think about things. I have a hard auss time convincing my friend how good uncharted 2 is, I even told him 2 download the demo and try it and he woldn't budge. He buys COD:WAW for playstation 2 and thinks th@ the X360 and ps3 vrsn are all similar.
I do like the way Quantic Dream thinks. Very open minded and positive.
Really? I remember it wasn't going to be released till late 2010/early 2011... or maybe it's another game I'm thinking of...
I heard an interview somewhere on YouTube saying it'll be early 2010. Plus the all-knowing always-accurate Wikipedia article of Heavy Rain says early 2010 too. I can't wait for this demo.
definity unsaturated and doesn't feel like the basic gameplay was copied and paste from another game like all FPS...........heavy rain got my money written all over it
Nice to know there trying to make a proper demo. With the proper contect inside of it.
