Dave Karraker: Layoffs not due to PS3 sales |
Ó
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) PR boss Dave Karraker has released a statement denying that the recent layoffs of SCEA HQ employees stemmed directly from trailing PS3 sales. Here's the statement made by Karraker to video game news website Next-Gen:This move is not wholly related to any one product in our portfolio. More accurately, it is reflective of shifts in the marketplace and in consumers' wants and needs, such as the rise of digital content delivery and networked services.
In order to maintain our market leadership, the management of SCEA has found it necessary to analyze the business and restructure the company as necessary.
This is contrary to earlier reports that the lay-offs were a result of the company's "multi-billion dollar losses and the high cost of PS3 game development". Whatever the reason, around 80 to 100 SCEA employees - most of them coming from the company's headquarters in Foster City, California - got laid off.

six junksis+wii ripoff: Six Axis and the Wiimote are never the same. Motion Sensing is the only thing in common and thats it. Six Axis is a regular controller, with tilt functionality. Its mostly designed for racing games or flying related games. Six Axis is partialy used in games. If your tired of moving your hand all the time, you have a choice to turn off tilt. With the wiimote you have to move your hands 90% of the time when playing games. If you are not used to playing motion sensing games then thats a problem.
rumble+blatant theft but finally settled lawsuit: I know Sony did not pay that company who made rumble but thats settled. Now, did you now Nintendo 64 already had a rumble add on before there was new rumble controller for the PS1. Sony may have copied that idea mabe but you always blamed Sony, that means your a fanboy of the Xbox or Nintendo. You did not blame the Xbox for having rumble and that they coppied Nintendo. Microsoft payed royalties to the company that rumble, you don't consider that copying don't you. Earlier you said Six Junksis is a ripoff of the Wii, Both controllers were patented, but you still act like a D!CK
ps3 asthetic design taken from spiderman no creativity there spiderman game and movie sucked: You mean the font? Sony owns the movie anyway, and the font is sleek for the PS3. About Spiderman, this doesn't fall in the category of "no creativity just stolen ideas". Spiderman I/II is great but Spiderman III was okay. But don't blame Sony for that, Blame Sam Raimi. He made the movie. If Gears of War sucked, who would you blame for making a *****ty game. Microsoft or Epic?. Also about Spiderman games, it wasn't Sony who made the game. If they did, it would have been way better since its only designed for one console. Activision made the *****ty Spiderman games just like any other game movies.
exploding laptop batteries: It only happened on Dell laptops, not Sony Vaio.(Thats what you get for buying a cheap @ss computer)
I am not a fanboy, I am a gamer who likes all 3 consoles.
