Damnation, Recoil: Retrograd coming to PS3 |
Ó
The French PlayStation Magazine's March 2008 issue unleashed explosive revelations of promising titles that would most likely appear on the Sony PlayStation 3. From Codemasters' camp comes Damnation, which is an intriguing action title about a man with Spirit Powers. Recoil: Retrograd from developer ZeitGuyz, an upcoming game by the creator of the Hitman series, also appeared on the mag.
We first heard of Damnation back in 2005 when the company Blue Omega Entertainment made an entry for the "$1,000,000 NVIDIA Make Something Unreal Contest" and bagged a few awards. It's set in a fictional country called Sovereignty where players take the role of Captain Hamilton Rourke, a man with Spirit Powers who's out to avenge the death of his squad and find the woman he loves.
Damnation is said to be similar to Assassin's Creed, as there are acrobatic elements and Rourke has the "Spirit Vision" ability which is comparable to Assassin's Creed's eagle vision. According to rough translations of the mag's feature, Damnation will feature huge levels that could take up to three hours to finish. Fortunately, there will be vehicles. A teaser site for the game is also online, but without any further details.
On the other hand, Recoil: Retrograd (screenshot on top) previously generated interest since it is believed to be a lot like the popular Hitman series. The protagonist is David Artman, a "chrono-assassin" who can move through time to kill his targets. Given its nature, ZeitGuyz stated that it's aiming for branching levels in which your decisions can affect the future.
A "tree save system" will be implemented in Recoil: Retrograd so players can go back to previous saved files and get the chance to see what would've happened if a different choice was made. Sources claim that every step you take can potentially change who'll gain political power further down the timeline and how people react to your presence.
Now that we know these two titles are out there, Codemasters and ZeitGuyz should make further announcements. When they do, we're sure to keep you posted, so watch this space!
