Crytek: We haven't seen the best out of the PS3 yet |
Ó
Nope, the PS3 most certainly has not been pushed to its limit yet. Karl
Hilton, Crytek UK's managing director, is of this opinion, as divulged in an
interview with Develop. The best is yet to come, and we're all waiting
for it."I don't think we've seen the best out of the PS3 at all," he said, "and I definitely think one of the best things about Crytek and CryEngine is that we're now in the best position to get the most out of the hardware."
He also mentioned Haze and how the team encountered a lot of development issues, "which meant it wasn't the game it should have been. A lot of them were technical issues; the PS3 is a powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of."
The Big Thing is yet to come from the PS3, the way he looks at it, and he is confident that CryEngine does give them a headstart on it.
Crytek UK was formerly known as Free Radical.

But theres a couple of typo's in there so ya know. 1st paragraph repeats "in an in an".
"and he is confident tat CryEngine" Sure you mean "that".
Anyways I agree with what he had to say. The PS3 is the hardest to get the results out of but I can't wait to see what these guys can pull off.
didnt we stop commenting about typos quite some time ago?
As i do agree with Karl, its funny that they made that failure of a game Haze lol
but lets hope their next project does well!
Alright Crytek, you have fun with that 256mb of system memory.
Consoles are so 4 years ago.
Just bring on Timesplitters 4 please. The only first person shooter series I give a damn about.
so smart that an entire multi billion dollar console gaming industry should probably listen to you... from the hardware manufacturers, to the developers, to the, publishers, to the retail stores, to the millions of active consumers etc... i guess everybody didn't quite get that consoles are so 4 years ago...
good thing you realized that!! maybe it's not too late!!! go publish a book!
if your not into consoles and their "so 4 years ago" then gtfo of the console specific gaming blog and stop being a douche.
Monkeys with guns!
Yes Please! lol
You looked so stupid with that comment. You have no idea what kind of memory the ps3 uses do you? PC gaming is so last decade you noob.....
They are smart enough to know the GPU shared the 256 MB of system RAM as well, giving it complete access to all 512 MB
Crytek ,
Games doznt need hight GFX with a sunny island to be good but smart people , So the MAximum PS3 dznt exist but you should upgrade your imagination to MAximum Imagine just like how Kojima and many others do right no and befor in the PS1 power .
The man bad lazy does much in places for the times up then is a power!
Maybe you stopped commenting about typo's but its obvious I haven't. Just trying to help out QJ, don't see a problem with that.
Thinking back on Haze... They could've made that a great game.
We all know the ps3 hasnt seen its full power yet, but really when will we actually see its full power? a year or two from now? By that time it will be 2011 which will mean that there will be other technology out there will be far easier to program than what is now the ps3....
Rate me down if you must
but really, The PS3's motto has always been, just give it more time, it will soon enough pass the wii sales and the 360 software sales. but folks its been almost three years!!!
i didnt buy a console just to see how long i have to wait to get higher end quality gaming than the other competitor
Majority of multiplattform games have looked a tad better on the 360. The CHEAPER CONSOLE is beating the overpriced ps3!?!?!
take a hint people, when the time comes, ps3 will have reached its potential, while new technology for computers and consoles alike will have moved on with this new technology that is growing rapidly as of today
thanks for all the heads up guys. for any tips on news/ typos/etc. you can just click on the Contact Us > Have A Tip? button above, middle column to send it our way. that way, we can all just comment about the article itself in the comments section.
thanks again!
Always thought that was just for tips on news related stuff really. I'll do it that way if theres a next time.
He does have a very strong point... I've got an even better one...
Who cares that much? I guess being from the 8 bit era and growing up on fun games with crappy visuals has made me not give a damn about "power".
Bottom line, if you like the games on 360, great.
If you prefer the PS3, fine.
Just shut up about it already and play your system of choice.
Yeah multi-platform games do look basically the same if not better on 360.
However, at this point, all First party PS3 games are looking better than first party 360 games.....and those are the games I bought the console for.
It is also the first party games that you use to judge a consoles power as multiplatform games will never use one console to the max.
So it basically comes down to Gears vs Killzone and everyone i've talked to that has seen both games, 90% of reviews and pleople online, plus myself think Killzone beats Gears hands down in the technical acheivments category....
Now add-in that the PS3 is not tapped out and things are going to get nice.
Hmmm, I think the last time I heard a developer say 360 had potential for improvement was about 2-2.5 years ago.....and it shows. I guess we will see what halo reach looks like or gears 3.
youre dumb. every system in existence has been like that. the games that come out later are usually better because the developers have experience for the said system. a system is not master right out of the get-go. also, you must understand the ps3 also is new hardware; the ***** in it, no one has has ever developed for...EVAR.
patience is a virtue, young grasshopper.
ps. ps3 was actually underpriced
Why do people try to pull the negative out of everything? basically, it doesnt matter that the PS3's "power" is tapped out right now or next year.... all it means it that we will continue to see improvements and better games coming out that utilize it more and more. If you have a 360 then your probably happy to know that its reached its peak... and you guys can hope for quantity while PS3 owners will keep getting quality, at the same time get some quanitity. (just a expressed opinion, only intended as an individual expressed view and opinion.) I have all the consoles, and as a computer/network tech, I tend to like the more complex powerful systems. If that makes me a fanboy just because I favor one over the other three then so be it... because that seems like the only insult people can ever come up with rather then telling some of these guys with good points "yeah your right, but our 360 is still very fun to play". Thats what it comes down to... and even I will say, the 360 architecture is GREAT for games (sounds like a vacuum cleaner, but oh well). In fact, PS3/360 in my opinion are true gaming consoles, the Wii is a POS to me.
