Crysis developer talks about console version |
Ó
Looks like a console version for Crysis is getting more promise: Crytek's lead level designer Sten Hubler recently gave some rather interesting comments which hinted that Crytek is already in the process of making it a reality. Those of you who missed the last update for Crysis, the specs for the game demand a whole lot from the PC. The high demand on hardware was the reason Crytek announced last year that the game won't make it to the consoles. However, the company loosened up just earlier this month when they saw anticipation surrounding Crysis.
Now Hubler gives us a clue as to how the game might find its way into the consoles:
Obviously consoles have memory constraints, so we would have to look at the size of the levels and maybe introduce some sort of streaming ability. Gameplay-wise we would need to consider the controller and how actions can be carried out on it. But Crytek have spent the last 6-7 years working on PC titles. We haven't done a lot with consoles; we'd have to discover how it all works.
With the way he talked it seemed like Crytek has seriously considered, if not already decided, to translate Crysis for the consoles. However, it was mentioned earlier this month by Cevat Yerli, Crytek boss himself, that there are just some things that can't be sacrificed, like AI and gameplay dynamic so it's worrisome to ponder on which part of the game will have to be cut down for the transition.

Anyone who has played Resistance: Fall of Man knows for a fact that the PS3 can do AI, normal mode in resistance is close to legendary mode in Halo, it's tough, I haven't even played hard mode yet. >.
its funny how xbox1 had hl2 considering it was i hi end pc game of its time.
so jus make the game for consoles already. 1 yr/ 2 yrs, i do care
although i did like those new bonus weapons and the bubble grenade
The Xbox did get a port of HL2, but it was a horrable port..
The same might hold true here..
It was a good port, much better than many had expected.
Try playing it on the PC with top settings and then come back and tell me it was a good port. It was shoddy at best.
FPS still kinda sucks on consoles anyway. I played RFoM for about two hours then gave up...kinda hard to play on a console when you're used to your mouse and keyboard...these analoque sticks suck for FPS control. So sorry
Now it's been said that HL2 won't come to PS3 and that valve don't wanna go for the PS3 - THANK GOD because another FPS on a console is of no use to me so keep HL2 for the 360 and PC please.
"HL2 won't come to PS3" you talking about the "orange box" coz it is.
"valve don't wanna go for the PS3" One guy from valve dont like the PS3. EA are porting Valves games to the PS3.
"so keep HL2 for the 360" half-life 2 never came out on the Xbox 360, idiot
Mouse is better but on my ps3 im using a pad and so are the rest so my frustrations are there frustrations. In about 6 months games should start coming out where you can use a mouse on PS3
pc was better but the xbox one looked better than expected, the game also had Anti-aliasing was good on a xbox game.
