Things are sure heating up fast! Only a few hours since the "news" broke out that a certain company is keeping Sony from putting in Cross-Game chat features among others, angry fanboys are out with their pitchforks on a hunt for the said responsible party. As many of you have already caught on in the comments section of the previous article, it's not Activision.

Thanks to tipster Superskull85, we got hold of an encrypted message (decrypted) that reveals the true identity of the culprit. The message says:

It's not Activision.
It's not Ubisoft.
It's not Capcom.
It's not Insomniac.
It's not Konami.
It's not Take 2.
It's not Midway.
It's not Squaresoft.

are wE All getting the picture yet?

Just like a sweet poem, huh? Super_Secret further stated:

One point I want to reiterate - there's a difference between the games that didn't work with in-game XMB and the games that DID work with in-game XMB but DIDN'T work well with custom soundtracks, so stop picking out the ones that simply didn't do in-game XMB.

Also, it wasn't just ONE game that caused this, either. Although one title does come to mind and it wasn't even what you or I would call a "Big" game. I'll give you a hint: HPatOofP.

That would be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in case any of you doubts your mnemonics.

Okay then, that's the latest update on this hottest buzz of the day. We'll get back to you with more updates as soon as more come out.

qj and other sites dont need to spread rumors like this. its causing more problems... in the end ea is just gonna say eff off.. and we lose a big chunk of games.. that will result in the ps3 being wiped out of the race...

EA lost it's touch anyhow.. +[

» *****ty games?

Burnout, sims, command and conquer, crysis, mass effect, battlefield, madden, dead space, mirror's edge, rock band, spore... need I say more? Some of these games helped boost ps3 sales BIG time so you guys can trash talk EA all you want but without EA, the ps3 will lose its sales lot.

by Techni - 2009-08-26 17:57
» I disagree completely

The bigger stink we raise about this issue the better chances we have of it being rectified.

by ChevyJackson - 2009-08-26 18:49
» you are correct, sir

I think you're absolutely right. Even if EA does put out a lot of bad games, they have still published a number of games that were great. But for Sony to lose EA, it would not only hurt the PS3 sales, but it would also reflect on the gamers, myself included, who support and love the PS3.

But by that same token, EA shouldn't be raising hell over the progress of the console; that's severely counter-productive. EA probably doesn't need the PS3 to survive, and I don't think the PS3 necessarily needs EA, but to prevent a company from giving it's consumers what they want?

I honestly don't think EA would lose NEARLY as much if Sony improved their console as they would if they stopped supporting Sony entirely.

by nehebkau - 2009-08-26 19:13
» hmm

isn't there a difference between published and selfmade?...

Well I just wonder why EA only gives Sony ***** about Cross-Game-Chat and the music stuff... Microsoft does it, also with EA games. Why is that no problem?!

by Silver-Tiger - 2009-08-26 21:53
» .....

well, you know, only a few of them have been developed by EA. All that EA does is give them money to produce the game. Then they release it and get all the praise.

Burnout: Criterion Games

Crysis: Crytek

Mass Effect: BioWare

Battlefield Bad Company: Dice/Digital Illusions

Mirror's Edge: Dice

Rock Band: Harmonix

Spore: Maxis

I could go on and on, but I think you get my point.

They have an 'exclusivity' agreement with Microsoft ?

by Shatterdome - 2009-08-27 07:37
» fawk EA....

I would miss the NHL series (even though I have yet to buy one) but other than that, EA can go f@ck themselves....I have yet to buy an EA game on PS3, I would not miss them....

by Shatterdome - 2009-08-27 07:44

The reason they don't give microsoft crap about it is that MS did one thing right when they made 360....and that is put alot of thought into the operating system/dashboard.

360 has voice chat and custom soundtracks built into the dashboard, so that game developers do not have to do anything and both functions just work...on all games, from day one.

by truk - 2009-08-27 09:53
» shatterdome is right

but because microsoft have patent on that way of implementing said certain features, sony's work around was to have the developers include such features in their games.

by Stealth! - 2009-08-27 11:53
» guys

Patents is why this is happening not EA. EA has alot to gain from the PS3, they wouldn't hold them back at all. I should also point out, N4G forums are not the best place to get information. There's been plenty of people claiming to be from Sony there which ends up being rumors and quite frankly it's also riddled with fanboys.

Don't believe this noob, and Sony has mentioned they've been working on Cross game chat for while now but have challenges FROM THEIR OWN XMB, not EA. I am not going to agree to this hatred for EA as they put out some fantastic games this generation and bad company, though publishing it, is one big one. Mass Effect is another HUGE game.

LMFAO!!! I never seen the person in that pic before but the second I seen the definition, I thought to myself "thats the president of EA" and sure enough, after looking up the president of EA (John Riccitiello) thats him! And he's, he is a smug.

by FelisCatusLover - 2009-08-28 11:15

Actually I've seen EA favor the Xbox 360 far more then the PS3. For example, on YouTube, I seen an front page full ad for a Madden game just recently, the only console listed in the ad was the 360. They didn't list the 200 other consoles they made the game for (EA makes all their games for almost every console to get more money).

by rollypoly - 2009-08-29 18:50
» @Felis

i guess you haven't seen the madden commercials on TV that only mention PS3? they even incorporate the button scheme into the commercial...

» Also

I should point out that the threads name is why cross game chat isn't available for PS3, how does this involves EA? Does anyone not remember this?

http://www.pcworld.com/article/167966/sonys_eric_lempel_on_ps3_updates_firmware_rumors.html

"Game On: What about universal chat(cross game chat), by which I mean voice chat outside games. You can currently chat with other gamers from within an online game, but not when you drop out.

Eric Lempel: Yeah, definitely, we realize that a lot of people want that. It's one of the most requested features, and it is something we're looking into. 'It's a very complex feature, but we are looking into it'."

Also remember, the reason it's complex is due to the PS3's XMB coding and design, and it isn't easy. I for one know some people who has worked with the PS3 and they have said it isn't as easy as "BAM!! here you kids, cross game chat". Also, who's to say MS didn't patent the way cross game chat works as well which was mentioned by someone here:
