Looks like ESRB might be getting its way after giving Manhunt 2 an Adults Only rating: the added pressure has led to the decision for Condemned 2 to play down some of the violence in the game.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot senior producer Constantine Hantzopoulos talks to Computer and Video Games about the effects the Manhunt 2 decision had on his end. Hantzopoulos says that efforts are being put into separating reality from fiction in the game, as this was one of the issues regarding the Manhunt 2 controversy. Hantzopoulos had been under pressure from ESRB before:

I worked on Fahrenheit and had to cut the sex scenes out of the game for the US. Yes, I was the guy that did that. It sucked because I don't believe in that, right. But you've got to do what you've got to do. We're working closely with the ESRB to make sure everything goes through okay but there's stuff we've cut already. There were things we were doing that even I couldn't believe we were going to those places.

There are other scenes that have been pulled out from the game, like one where a man's head is put in a vice and some other decapitation scenes. Despite this, Hantzopoulos says "we're actually in pretty good shape."

***** this

I am really dissapointed in this. I hate that artists must alter their creative vision due to some bull***** politics. Condemned was very underrated and I am saddened that it's come to this. The big 3 companies need to allow release of AO games on their console. I am 28 and at about the AVERAGE age for a gamer, I can handle ficitonal morbid violence. Why do movies get away with it but "games" not?

wtf

they left dead rising with a m rating and that game is extremely bloody and gory.these games need to be released regardless. They probably would sell like hot cakes over the internet. If I were sega or rockstar I would sell it over the internet at extra charge and make the games so bloody that doctors would probably barf.I would still make a killing no pun intended.Rockstar listen up you probably will be able to make money on this.
