Clue to Final Fantasy VII remake found in Crisis Core book? |
Listed in: PS3, PSP Tags: Japan, Square Enix
Ó
Rumors about a Final Fantasy VII remake just wouldn't stop. Actually, this has been going on for years now but the rumors went full swing again after a secret cinematic video was uncovered in the PlayStation Portable video game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The title has just been released in Japan this week. Anyway, there's a Crisis Core collector's edition bundle for Japan that includes a book. According to some, Square Enix has left yet another hint in the said book that it is indeed remaking FF VII.
We have here some of the scans and one of the pages read, "We hope to meet in Final Fantasy VII again!" Like we said before, this sentence is open to a lot of interpretations.
But we guess nobody can really blame the fans for wishing that this is a sign of good things to come - that good thing is in the form of an improved and enhanced Final Fantasy VII whether on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable.

We've seen a lot of (hardly improved) remakes lately, for "good" reasons (commercially speaking) : they're cheaper to produce than making a new game from scratch, and they sell for the same price as brand new games. So, why wouldn't SE abuse that strategy for a game worshipped by millions of players around the world?
Conclusion : There WILL be a remake of FFVII.

All the pictures are screens of the ps3 tech demo. Not ONE screen that was not seen there or in AC. So, I'm afraid this is just another elaborate hoax.
But still, can't help hoping for a remake of my fav FF game! ;)

I agree it would be stupid not to remake FFVII, but you have to understand where they are coming from. All maps and places, buildings and whatnot are in 2d. I don't know if they can upscale from original images, but if not, this isn't going to be a simple port. Absolutely they can tweak the 3d characters, battle and world map, but thats a lot of work getting it to hi def.
It's almost making an entirely new game with the added curse of, "what do we change?" "what do we keep?" and "what is untouchable?"

However nice it may be, I think all this is reffering to a release of ff7 for the PSP/PS3 PS1 emu's....they are assuming you will go buy that and finish the story....as lot's of the kids out there playing crisis core have never played FF7 as they were only 4 when it came out...
