Church: withdraw Resistance: Fall of Man from BAFTA Awards - Image 1 Manchester Cathedral Dean the Very Reverend Rogers Govender has demanded the withdrawal of SCEA and Insomniac Games' Resistance: Fall of Man from the British Academy Video Game Awards (BAFTA).

Govender said that the use of the Manchester Cathedral in the game should be grounds to remove the title from the list of nominees. He pointed out that Sony has admitted that it did not had permission to film or use Manchester Cathedral in Resistance.

Not doing so, the reverend added, would mean that BAFTA is condoning Sony's actions. In response to this, BAFTA Head Anne-Marie Flynn released this statement:

Resistance: Fall Of Man has been nominated for the PC World Gamers' Award - the only publicly-voted award in this year's ceremony. The shortlist for the Gamers' Award was effectively selected by the public, in that it comprised the top-selling games on each platform according to the games charts published by Chart Track.

As of this article's writing, Sony has not yet released a statement about the game's nomination. Be sure to keep checking back here at QJ.NET for more updates on this issue.

"Not doing so, the reverend added, would mean that BAFTA is condoning Sony's actions."

Is this church anything to do with Jack Thompson? They sure share the same warped logic.

There is no logic inside a church...

Go ahead and believe in god if you want to, but count me out.

Just how petty is this Reverend Rogers Govender? Why don't he stop upsetting us gamers and do something more akin to church like behavior, like pedophilia?! ( I dont think I spelt that right..oh well i'm sure i got the message across )

» God damn!

On one side of the coin, the Church is trying to appeal to young people to join their faith, but on the flip-side, they're being this petty about video games! The irony is, the Cathedral location in the game was actually a refuge anyway wasn't it (it's been a long time since I played the mission) - protecting the soldiers from evil? Strange logic indeed - shame!

The church should be a haven in this game as far as i know...

Yeah, its not like the mission is, you have to blow-up the church and God is like a boss you got to kill to complete it or maybe he looks like a freak and he thinks people might see the church and him inside and think hes a alien and try to kill him with a plasma gun.

» it's not like it's the 1st time the church says that.

And 'till now, nothing has changed.

I think that the church should stop saying things like that, about one game. I mean, they castrated all the beautiful statues in the vatican because the sexual organs shouldn't be seen... I think they will always try to block everyone from having the real things while forgetting to talk about the real things, like why the priests in Africa tell the African to NOT use condom, while the third of their population is dying from aids... I think they should realise that the Insomniac's actions is killing nobody while theirs are killing millions of people. Same for their actions in the past like the crusade (the holy war, the same as the djihad (if it's written like that), the musulman religion war) and the chase to witches that got even La Pucelle burned...

Anyway, I don't even like the game (maybe I'd like it, the I found the demo way too tough and about war instead of my kind of shooters that are not warfare games (like halo or unreal or half life, etc)). But the church reaction is simply stupid.

Sorry is my post was long or useless to you. Thanks for reading anyway

» ha-ha

conspirators abysmal try to flunk another negative publicity for sony turned to be positive for sony.

why would an award giving body remove a game where PEOPLE voted to be in it? and the category is GAMERS AWARD meaning it is PEOPLES choice! and removing anything people chosed is suppression! and that is not good for an award giving body to be credible.
