Chart-Track boss comments on PlayStation 3's 82% sales drop |
Ó
In light of the 82% sales drop the Chart Track (Chart-Track) research group reported for the Sony PlayStation 3 in the UK, company boss Dorian Bloch stepped in to dissolve speculations on what these new figures could imply. "A figure of an 82% drop has leaked out but that alone means nothing," Bolch said during a recent interview by Next Generation. "Given how much pent up demand there was for PS3 and given the sophistication of pre-order systems now, it really doesnÂ’t mean anything."
It will be remembered that the PS3 experienced large-scale pre-orders in Europe, with regions like Benelux reporting roughly 44,000 pre-orders before the PS3's March 23 launch.
Bloch further added that in most console launch scenarios, extra console stocks were not available for the second week of launch. The PS3 console's case was different as Sony apparently had extra stocks available for consumers even after the first week frenzy - it will be remembered that 165,000 PS3 units were sold within two days after the UK launch. In its second week on the UK market, the PS3 received a further 30,000 sales.
"Judging a console based on nine days on sale is just crazy. It doesnÂ’t make any sense," Bloch remarked. Sony has yet to comment on the recent sales reports posted.

OF course sales are going down after it's first week "launch". People who were waiting and itching for it got it on launch, others will continue to purchase but not in the same amount of numbers of launch week. Yet, retarded sites like this post "OMGS!! PS3's not sellings!!! Ohes noes!!!"
Look at ANY CONSOLE's sale history, after launch the numbers drop insanely due to supply and demand to a trickle of what it was at launch. It's nothing new and yet the media's all over the anit-sony band wagon.
Yep that is what everyone has been saying.... god damn fanboys trying to kill the Sony Playstation 3 before it can walk
sick i tell you. lol
first OMG!
xcrap 69 is ghey..
The sales are following exactly what happened in Japan and the USA, after launch hype was over its sales dwindled away and this is exactly what is happening again, face facts the PS3 will never be the best or even second best next gen console, it will remain last.
xcrap 69 is ghey ?, the PS3 is also called the xcrap 69 is ghey ! first I ever heard that.
WOW 82% drop in sales, looks like the PS3 is finished.
im just worried that the ps3 will not only lost exclusives but the game(s) altogether THEN, and only THEN will the ps3 be finished.
unless SONY have some great 1st party games, that is worth £424.99
PS3 is SHlT compared to the Xbox360! XBOx 360 owns the PS3 you fanboys need to relies the PS3 is one junk system and just buy and an XBOx 360 instead its way better then the POS3!!!!
