Challenging homecourts: NBA Street |
Ó
What's there to expect from EA's upcoming arcade basketball title NBA Street Homecourt's single-player campaign? Here's what: a modified game-face technology, team creation, and upgradeable gears. Now, let's go have a quick look at each one. Cumulatively, those three are the steps you'll go through in order for you to successfully overcome the Homecourt Challenge. This feature basically gives you the opportunity to take over the different courts that the NBA stars grew up playing on. Be it Melo's Cloverdale court or some other place from New York, New Jersey, or LA, all's good a challenge.
So, the game-face technology is the first step. Here, you select three NBA players and pretty much make a mix of their features. How funky is that? Hmmm...let's see...how about Melo's cheekbones with Antoine Walker's forehead and...umm...Ben Wallace's hair? That could work. Anyway, it's not really the face that counts in this game. NBA Street ain't a pretty boy contest. Far from it.
The team creation, meanwhile, necessitates you to form a team from a fictional hometown. Yup, whatever name you want to give your town is up to you. Like Water Lily. Or something. Anyhow, get two payers with different attributes and you're set to conquer the challenge games: race to 21, jump shot competitions, dunks contest and a few other surprises are what's brewing over there. Of course, what's the point of winning if you won't be rewarded for it? That's why for every win you get over a team, you get a power-up for your speed, power, dunks and handles. Also, you get to unlock gears, as well as a new player.
As for the gears, yeah, you can say they're just as important as gameplay. This is, indeed, streetball, but who said anything about looking campy? Of course you'll be blinged up as well. So, you've got shoes, jerseys, gold teeth...the works. Expect endorsements as well.
So, get going with your warm-ups. Game comes out February 19th in the U.S. for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Keep it posted here for more news.
