CES 2008: LittleBigPlanet may get R-rated content |
Ó

More developments are coming in from the CES 2008 show floor. After spilling the beans about emoticons, Fluff, and the side-scrolling nature of LittleBigPlanet, Kyle Shubel clued in on another thing we could expect from the upcoming cutesy-wutesy "casual" game: R-rated content.
[hushed silence]
What? Were you actually surprised? Apparently, the Media Molecule team is already expecting it. What with the "sandlot customization" nature of the game - which allows you to create all sorts of Sackboy avatars, as seen in the concept art above - Kyle Shubel mentioned that some people might go too far and create R-rated content.
To counterbalance this, the team might have to resort to imposing parental controls so that children who might be playing the game won't encounter lewd images when connecting online. They're also thinking of putting a rating system for user-generated stages in the game. Well, better parental controls than totally hindering people's creative juices to flow, I guess.

You know, that's why that message about online game play pops up.
You can't block everything on the net and when it's left open, there are bound to be some pervs who publish crap
The world's gone mad!
I think this is a genuinely positive step forward.
yes you are bound to get the occasional pervert who wants to make a fortress out of pictures of his *****, and heck, so long as he clearly labels it as "adult only" and mentions clearly in the content's title that "this level contains gratuitous images of my genitalia!" then I'm not complaining!
meanwhile, real artists, people with a vivid imagination are not going to be hampered because you aren't allowed overly violent content, or nudity is a no-no... poppy*****! I'm glad the developers have the maturity to allow it's user-base to make decisions on what they want to see and create. kudos to them.
I agree completely.
The naked dude up there already hase a ***** nub...
Not to mention it looks like a walking ***** anyways....
You're going to get an R-Rating.
They can do whatever the #%$# they want because I'm buying this #$%#ing game no matter what.
100% in agreement, exionzero, and a kudos to the developers of LittleBigPlanet for a good solution to the problem
The rating system (ESRB especially) is an absolute waste of money and pile of crap. Completely unnessesary.
