AGEIA, the company developing the physics engine for the PS3, has released a video demonstrating the power of the engine. CellFactor is a PC game but the physics driving the game are being used for the PS3. The video is actually game footage demonstrating the realistic feel of the physics in real time.

Through the entire video I found my self in awe of the realistic physics as the characters run around blowing every thing in site across the map launching gravity based weapons that suck in debris and launch it high into the sky. Just watching the video its hard not get get lost in the realistic feel of every turn you take or grenade lobbed your way. I can not wait to get my hands on this game. This video is nothing short of awsome but expect a massive load time.

Its a small level and looks like they only have one gun made but so far it looks better than anything ive seen

the video file is over 140 megs... this better be good as i'll be downloading until the cows come home.

it's funny to me that you can be in awe of the physics involved, as you see a great deal of 'realistic' physics in the real world and aren't exactly bowled over by it. mind you i haven't actually seen anyone flinging gravity weapons in real life.

That game looks interesting, I'm game for the HL2 meets the Matrix approach. If they decide to make another Matrix title you can count on them taking notes from this sweet looking title!

Wicked messing, and crazy overdue boxes and gas canisters.

I love this video, but I can tell it using the mouse controller cos fast reaction.

I'm really hope PS3 will have fully support with mouse and keyboard for FPS otherwise I might need to spend lotta for upgrade on my computer to get advance like it.

This obviously wasnt done on a controller. That kind of precision can multitasking is left on Keyboard and mouse alone. This is amazing. Graphics are awsome the amount of detail to the physics of all the objects is insane.

I dont know what system they are playing this on but it definitly doesnt look pre-rendered. This is like the combination of the graphics of Doom and Quake with the large areas in half-life 2 with a really good physics engine.

My friends SLI 7800 Starts showing signs of slowing down in half-Life2 when theres a plethora of stuff on the screen moving at the same time, ie the physics stress test map. and this video is just as crazy.

if this is a game, i really wanna play it.

"My friends SLI 7800 Starts showing signs of slowing down in half-Life2"

your friend has two 7800(that is SLI right?) and it slows down on Half-Life 2?.....you sure it isn't his computer?

I have a one 6800 and I never slow down....though I have a gaming comp that is only for games...

if he's getting slow down he invested too much in the gpu and not enough in the cpu.

maybe low RAM.

He is using a controller too. There are delays indicative of a controller stick. That and he keeps facing one way alot.

Example, when he psy-jumps up to the beam, and finds another person. He immediately fires at the ground, while he takes the control stick an THEN drags it up to hit the guy.

It says this game is for PC called CellFactor but the physics part will be implemented on the PS3.

Sorry tp break it to you buys but this will only release for the PC and 360. All it's saying from the article is that the PS3 is also capable of doing that. :)

Although the video is nice I think it'd be out of the PS3's range, for 1. it's running on a topend PC and 2. that video is part of the tech demo for the AGEIA PhysX Physics Processor, which is basically akin to how a GPU is to graphics but for physics instead. I know AGEIA are working with PS3 but I don't think to that level!!

ageia is the one the companies that partnered with them in the developement cycle. Sony's main focus in working with ageia is to streamline the process of implementing realtime physics (namely whats shown in this video) onto the ps3. This quite certainly is possible on the ps3.

ageia's helping sony with physics for an sdk. this demo was for the physX card, which goes on sale next month. the 360 or ps3 would have to accomplish this either in software, or running it off the gpu (nvidia demoed that last week i think)

First off...this game has an ETA of Q4 2007. (just incase u didnt know).

Second, Just because PS3 will use this physics engine doesnt mean it will be that insanley cool. Look how many games use the Havok physics engine. HL2 being one of the most famous.Barely any of them using Havok so far has the realistic feel that HL2 had.

We can only hope that they could get physics like that on the PS3...but im not getting my hopes up till I see with my own eyes, it running on a PS3.

Its driving me nuts that I cannot see actual gameplay for this system yet...I want one bad and waiting is getting out of hand. May is too far away to see more on this system. I'll just stick with my 360 for now I guess :-/

(though im loving every minute of time spent on my 360)
