Capcom's take on DMC 4 multiplatform move |
Ó
Sometime last week, Capcom has confirmed the long-time rumor which has been going around, saying that the supposed Sony exclusive Devil May Cry 4 was going multiplatform. This was of course followed by a lot of varied reactions and even some Dante-must-stay-with-Sony movements which resulted in an online petition to keep the franchise exclusive.
Well, with all the clamor that we have been hearing from fans, someone from Capcom has finally braved the hordes, and spoke about the company's stand in this decision. That brave man was no other than Christian Svensson, Capcom's senior Director of Strategic Planning & Research. His brief statement is as follows:
We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers.
Even though some fans may be upset at this development, the man does seem to have a point. After all, moving a title onto another platform may not be so bad, and it doesn't lessen the fact that Devil May Cry 4 will be, as its predecessors were, a cool and fun game. Besides, weren't games created to allow people to have fun in the first place? Anyway, what's done is done, and all that we can do now is wait for the game to actually come out and see if it can live up to the expectations of the masses.

If Capcom was soooooo concerned about satisfying more consumers by going back on it's PS3 exclusivity word for DMC4, then they would have released Dead Rising and Lost Planet on the PS3 by now like other multi-platform developers have done for their 2006 X360 games.
Also, by going multi-plat you cannot get the most out of a machine klike you can by developing exclusively. Who knows how many features and extras may be cut because they now have no reason to maximize all 7 SPUs and there's no reason now to put enough content that fits on a Blu-ray disc that can't fit on DVD9. There may have been planned SIXAXIS features that were nerfed as well for all we know.
So this latest feeble attempt by them to explain why they kick Sony fans in the nads is ridiculous. Likely Microsoft paid them extra $$$ for the change in strategy, but they don't have the integrity to admit it.

The most out of the machine??? LOL the 360 and PS3 are SO similiar it doesnt even MATTER anymore... Youre an idiot if you think otherwise...

Now we are coming down to, this is a game. Sir, MeMyselfandI, We are talking about getting a game to other people, EVEN if it means by pushing it to other consoles, would you have been LESS pissed off of it was on the PC as well? It wouldn't have mattered, PC and X360 ALMOST goes Hand in Hand. Quote Me, ALMOST.
So The press conference wasn't necessary, neither was thousands of Sony Fan Boys *****ing and groaning over an exclusive title no longer exclusive.
Even IF they moved Dead Rising and Lost Planet to the PS3, The online play would be so crippled (More than it already is...) And they would have to supply their own servers and more down loadable content and updates, etc.
I wouldn't mind Dead Rising or Lost Planet migrating to the PS3, I wouldn't blame Capcom, but wouldn't you say Dead Rising is more of an... American/Euro/Australian/Austria every where else cept SEA/ASIA/JAPAN? I thought the PS3 was doing better in Japan then here, so I am pretty sure that DMC4 would be perfect for the PS3 and 360/PC and Dead Rising/Lost Planet wouldn't be so great for the SEA/ASIA/JAPAN regions on PS3, so we have a hand full of gamers that would buy the game. (PS3 Still hasn't been fully kick started, so Capcom could be having some second thoughts.) It pleases a verity of gamers. You can't please every one at the same time. It's Capcom bringing you games and if you buy it or don't, the Xbox 360 user base will MOST LIKELY fill your posistion. ~10,800,000 X360's to ~1,780,000 PS3's. I'd imagine you are pleasing a bigger crowd. (I COULD BE VERY wrong about the number of consoles sold, I got the info from NexGen Wars. http://nexgenwars.com/ Its very approximate/educated guesses from Sales Facts and Figures) So whatever, you can choose what ever. I'd just buy a game that I like...

DMC going multiplatform is another reason not to buy the overpriced and underperforming PS3.
If PS3 is so good, why are almost all 360 versions of games better? Better graphics, better frame rate, better online functions. You name it.

ps: @PS3 Games are Mediocre :
1st, the ps3 version of games? what are you talking about, they just ported some x360 games on the ps3, dah it's looking less special, it's a port, it wasn't done for the ps3 since it popped 1 year after.
2nd, the list of ps3 exclusive is far more impressive that x360 exclusive so shut up.
3rd, I hate the x360 controller and also hate the noise the console make, and I had one in the past ( returned it after a week of gears of war which I hate, but I loved halo1 and hated the second ).
4th, the best console is not the one who have the more power ( hard to say when you're a fan of playstation ) but the one that have more great games, and right now they are the same since almost no good games popped and I'm still playing on my ps2 with god of war 2 and shining force EXA. Next year we'll see the differance.

For PS3 fans this is not good and thats why "they" are upset. How would have gamers felt if last second Epic made Gears of War multiplatform for PC and PS3?
You would have seen the same responce.

So In a nuttshell, If Gears made its way to PC (Which would probably happen for PC) and PS3, I wouldn't be too worried or sad about it.

dreamcast was gangsta but they didn't promote it here like they was supposed to. Y cause nin had people and sony with the new disc format kicked and snatch nin people in, now not to keep point of the time line but for me and my fellow 80's
gamers i only got the system for the games the old turtles, with bebop, slash, streets of rage, crono trigger,
the games went one:multi, two:sega, three:super.
if pay diff cost for three systems all getting the same thing then whats the point of the system then pic one thing that runs them all buy the game from the pub, and end this u spend 600 u spend 400+150+......

How would you feel if that announcement was coming from Epic regarding Gears of war or came from the producers HALO 3 ?
There is an old saying back where I come from... '' Dont do something, you would'nt like to be done to you''.
In this case MS paying off the companies that make(ed) ps exclusives, but what if MS lost exclusivity on Gears and HALO 3, we wouldnt want that dont we?.
Anyway my opinion is that I dont mind games going multiplatform for more people to enjoy, but its not correct neither fair that one only takes and never gives back.

" We here at capcom do not friggin care that you started a petition to boycott Devil May Cry 4 because, its not our fault it isn't a PS3 exclusive." " If you really wanna know whose fault it is just look no farther then your precious Sony." "They had to go and make their stupid PS3 extremely hard to develop for and extremely expensive to develop for and if we had it our way DMC4 would be Xbox 360 exclusive because, Microsoft is willing to gives us free money( and who doesn't love barrels of free money) and the Xbox 360 has a larger install base worldwide but, our home country of japan refuses to buy Xbox 360 thus forcing us to release the game on the PS3."
"So in theory by going multi-platform we are gonna be making more money and thats all that really matters in this world right." "everyone gets what they want." "you gamers(Xbox 360,PS3, and PC users sorry Wii users no DMC4 for you) get DMC4 and we gets more money to keep us afloat and we get to keep kissing Microsofts backsides and we all know what happens when you kiss microsofts backside you get more free money and like I said before who could turn down free money." "Like the saying goes money rules the world and We at capcom are no different were a company who needs money, wants, and thrives on money because, thats what buisness is all about"

ok its going for both 360 and ps3
but the 360 version will only have 720 CGmovies and 720p graphics, the ps3 version will have 1080p graphics and movies, will have more special effetcs due to the 7 spe's and rsx the ps3 has.
if they port the 360 versions of dead rising and lost planet to ps3, it just basically the same with only better graphics on ps3 (eg not dark, 360 shows games so dark that tunnels looks like endless pits).
and to capcom hope you get your money's worth because you just decreased sony chances of having bigger/more user base.

I would! Because PS3 is not in war with PC but X360!! And, in war, you don't give weapons to your enemy and say "uhm, I think it's ok for them too to be happy." This just has no excuse! Capcom must die for this treason!

Go have your average primitive sex with a smelly vagina of your ugly girlfriend. Ewww. My PS3 is sexy sleek and gives me all the love I need! And so shall I be proud to die fighting for it's honor!

I like thier products because they are well designed and made. They don't lie and treat you like you're a stupid consumer (like sony.) They also support their products well.

So the 60fps GT series looks worse because of no motion blur does it? IMO, GTHD looks better than motorstorm in general, and the same will definately be true for GT5, at 60fps without motino blur btw.
