And it did arrive. A couple of days ago, there were rumors regarding the impending arrival of a Super Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360). When it first came out, we were open to the speculation of it being a mere expansion of sorts. Well it's not. It's just been revealed to GameSpot by producer Yoshinori Ono that it will be a stand-alone version.

He characterizes this version as having improved online features, balance tweaks to all existing fighters, and eight new characters. Of these new characters, three have already been announced: T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and Juri.

So are we getting this for the full stand-alone price as well? That would be a no. While Capcom did not divulge the price point yet, what is guaranteed is that those who already have Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360) will get a "bonus" for Super.

This one's slated for a Spring 2010 release for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Sorry, PC folks. They didn't mention anything about you guys getting this one -- at least not yet.

In the meantime, here's the teaser trailer:

Yeah, I'll buy it. I can't help myself. I can't not have the latest edition of Street Fighter and I play SFIV loads. Eight new characters even if I know two of them I hated from the old games. Hoping the improved online features mean I actually get to play a decent game online but I doubt it.

I've loved street fighter since world warrior in the arcades

but unless they do something special they can ***** off

if anything these characters should be dlc, not an excuse to rip people off by giving them what is bound to be the same sfIV with these couple of characters, maybe some new menu pictures and a new mode or two

and what kind of teaser is that? ken and ryu fighting again? wow thats made me want it.

mmmm then again I might be able to buy it if theres a world tour mode. but only if I get money off for owning sfIV and not some poxy different coloured outfit as the bonus

'Capcom officially announced the game, revealing it to be a standalone title. According to developer Yoshinori Ono, this is because the changes, which comprises of eight additional character, improved character tweaks based on community feedback, and an improved online mode, were too extensive to release as DLC. As a compromise, the game will be released at a smaller price point, and there will be as-of-yet unrevealed features for people who already own Street Fighter IV.'

Supposedly cheaper and with features for people who have the original version. Could sell the original one to pay for the new one. I want to see the rest of these 8 extra characters. Hoping at least some of them are really good. I'd be quite happy to see some more previous Street Fighters/Final Fight characters back again if they're doing this. Guy could be cool. Zangeif's alternate costume in the regular version was based on Haggar's but I wish it would actually have changed Zangief into Hagger when selected complete with portrait and story bits. Would be nice to see them fighting against each other even if they're 'clones' with slight gameplay differences.

# damn capcom why?capone420x 2009-09-29 08:35
Capcom all of a sudden wants to shaqfu us dry with no lube i mean sf4 just came out last year and here comes some added characters but they "tweaked and balanced" the game more so this cant be dlc. Well im not picking this up until its 20 dollars or less. I paid very close to a 100 for my collectors edition. This will split the online community and i am against this. Its hard enough sometimes to find a good fight. 8 characters cant be that huge what 400 megs at the most and tweaks shouldnt be anymore than 5 megs. Oh off topic but why the need for a directors cut of re5 also? Capcom must be run by the guys who do madden every year.

There's NO GAWD DAMN REASON WHY THIS SHOULDN'T BE DLC.

F*** you Capcom, I'm not buying this money grab.
