Capcom: blood and guts here to stay in Resident Evil series |
Ó
An interesting question was recently raised by MCV UK to Capcom. The publisher was asked if there was ever any consideration towards toning down gore in Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) to make it accessible to a lower age group. Rhys Cash of Capcom UK answered in behalf of the company by replying:
WeÂ’re never going to create a gore-free Resident Evil title to try and get a lower rating as itÂ’s a game about the horror experience and gore is part of that. WeÂ’re primarily about making great games and if itÂ’s appropriate to the title we wonÂ’t shy away from making a 15+ or 18+ title.
Cash added that mature content applied in appropriate contexts is nothing to be shied away from. It was also pointed out that there will always be a market for mature content even in platforms like the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii where the younger crowd comprises the majority of the user base.
He cited the success of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition from last year. Both were hits even though the Wii is mostly looked at as a child-friendly console.

Go, Capcom! And that's why RE5 will be just as great as all the others!
The Wii IS a childs console and the reason those games sold well IS because children play them. In case you haven't noticed, 90% of the world doesn't pay attention to anything the ESRB, PEGI, or any of them other crap organizations have to say. If a kid can't buy the game then an adult will buy it for them. Same with cigarettes, alcohol, etc.
I always do that xD my sister get it for me
Well if the will is a childs console, why do they sell X360 and PS3 in Toys "R" Us? Isn't that a children's store?
I'm glad that capcom would never do such a thing. For me, nothing revs you up to play a Resident Evil game more than seeing that disclaimer at the beginning of the game, "This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore."

You mean it MIGHT be better than RE4... but it won't be better than The Biohazard Games.
They also sell other non toys in Toys "R" Us.
Good one, I actually never thought of that! I love playing with my toys!!!
No one gives a ***** about what Toys "R" us sells.
For all i know they are selling live giraffe sex by the minute. With their mascot for an extra dollar.
BUT i must say i buy my little bro M games when he NEEDS them. and then i play them at 11 o clock at night. so we are both happy.
RE4 was awesome and as long as RE5 (with some better graphics) is at least as enjoyable as RE4 then I'll be a happy puppy!
