Hollywood Reporter is reporting that there's gonna be a "Call of Duty: The Movie" headed to the cinemas soon, if Activision carries out its intention of having one. According to an inside source, talks have been underway for the big screen version. Do we say "Uh-oh..."?

See... it can work... they have the same hat.

It does little to appease traumatized gamers who've seen their favorite games suffer in the hands of Hollywood when Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick declines to make a comment - not even to offer a denial - for the said plan.

Well, Hollywood generally makes cool war movies, yes? Generally. Call of Duty: The Movie. Say it again. Are you imagining multiple "Private Ryans" to be saved now?

We'll keep you posted on this. Maybe they'll announce it at E3 as well.

Ha.

sorry this sounds retarded, It's gonna be like any other war movie except it's gonna be slapped with a CoD title, story isn't one of CoD's strengths, gameplay is and this is a movie....

Totally hit that right on the spot.

Maybe if it's a whole new story and not a movie rendition of a game...maybe.

» it could work out

Well, I don't think a movie version of this would be a horrible idea. Other game to movie adaptations fail because they either try too hard to make the movie like the game in various ways, or they take some artistic license and screw around with story or character design. The good thing about Call of Duty is that it doesn't have to follow a certain story except one following whichever war they choose to follow. The only character they would sort of require depending on when and where they make the setting would be Captain Price. Although I don't know who could play him and really pull off that mustache.

ooooooooooooooo ooooo

Seriously, you could slap together any war movie, and put Call of Duty as the Title. What makes it any different than any other war movie???

» If they had

Infinity ward work on the movie (which they 99% chance won't), this could turn out to be good. Am I the only person who truly enjoys the authenticity and well written stories and dialog written by them. Anyway maybe if they did some sort of story like in Modern Warfare they could actually make it cool. I'm just not sure they will be able to pull of the "in your face" action of the games since they are first person shooters.

A war movie. Thats all its going to be. A war movie but it'll be associated with a game. Thats it. Its actually stranger than the other concepts; a movie based off of a ride (Pirates) or a movie based off of a tv show based off a toy (Transformers).

Though I liked those movies and both have grossed insane amounts of money, I doubt a CoD movie will make any sense at all, people play these games for the mutliplayer more than anything else. Lets see them make a Mario Party movie first and see how that goes.
