Yeah, that's all I got. This came from Activision's Chief Financial Officer, Thomas Tippl, during the Wedbush Morgan Securities Annual Meeting. I would have preferred some screenshots so I can agree with him, but I guess I'll take his word for it, and "looking incredible" will do for now.
Tippl also talks on how they committed to the right strategy by having two studios work on the franchise at once. In case you didn't know, Infinity Ward is working on the Modern Warfare titles while Treyarch worked on World at War. Says Tippl:
Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare.
For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season.
There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre.The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job.

After skipping CoD5, I finally can play a CoD again! YAY!
its already been noted that Killzone 2 is the best FPS to come out.. you got some competition infinity ward.
and to say the "best" game of the year is a little far fetched... when games like GOW3, Mass Effect 2, and Bioshock 2 are slated for this year...just good luck. (will be buying this anyways so don't put me down for hating on it)

It's most likely just gonna be another expansion pack. New perks, weapons, skins, and maps. Single player will be another typical "zomg 4-man squad of death" affair.
Of course that's just my random prediction. I don't expect much honestly, but it's kinda stupid to say it'll be Game of the Year, because Sony has tons of exclusives coming, Microsoft has tons of exclusives coming, and I don't even know what Nintendo is up to, so it'll have some massive competition either way.
And I highly doubt they'll do anything to revolutionize FPS. COD4 did nothing for the genre, except "perks", which honestly, wasn't actually a new concept. We'll see when the game hits.
I think they're talking about sales. I'm pretty sure it will be one of the best selling game of the year because it's multiplatform. Also due to the fact that CoD4 put it at a great place. Hell it could be as bad as W@W(although still not that bad) and people will still get this game.

COD4 and WaW had massive competition in their release years, they sold great
And don't be knockin on COD single player, that on Veteran is some of the best video gaming has to offer
I was a COD fan once. 1,2 and 3, LOVED THEM. So when COD4 came out I bought it straight away n I hated it straight away. I didn’t like the game play, the storyline was too short n boring and the online was not much better. To me the previous COD games are better.
This is going to happen agen, Activision are just going 2 hype up the game till x-mas and then when you buy the game u’ll just get bored saying been there dun that. Then ull just throw it away n start playin God Of War 3 or Killzone 2!!!

That's like saying that GTA:Vice City and San Andreas are GTA 4 and GTA 5.
if they use a new engine.. If they put out another call of duty with the Modern Warfare engine then it wont look "amazing" in my opinion, especially with shooters like Killzone 2 out now. We'll see how good this one looks...
you guys cant be seriously saying cod mw2 is gonna be bad i have it on good authority that its gonna be amazing considering its gonna continue right were cod4 left off and everything from the online of the previous installment will be there plus a completely new online experience but whatever guys free speech and all that just don't post BS if you haven't got a valid point to make.
If your trying to look smart n be funny it isn%u2019t working. If you%u2019re saying all the other CODs are crap there wouldn%u2019t be a COD4 without a 1, 2, and 3. The thing I like about the original CODs is that the storyline is superb, it tells you bout the characters past.
Like in COD2, at the end only 3 people out of the whole original squad survived, cause of the way they build it up it just felt so realistic. Like the character where modeled out of real people. COD4 didn%u2019t have that effect on me, it was just boring.

COD4 was easy on Veteran, and so was COD5. Try KZ2 on Elite, that's some real gaming. I platinum'd KZ2 + COD5 already.

I have my opinion, and he has his. I also think that COD3 was a better game than 4. Not story-wise, but COD was never strong with story. I loved COD3's multiplayer.
COD4 just got noobified with 10 billion perks, turning the game into a pokemon battle with guns. The whole game was just too easy because of all that.
Cod3 was good but too similar to 2, I wanted something different. COD4 filled that void and gave me some great fps gaming. so in my opinion COD4
the top reason being is it won't be optimize 2 be as great as it maybe can be....cause it's multiplatform which will look n feel the same on both system...
unlike killzone 2 which has shot down all FPS games perfecting everything to the very last detail using blu-ray as standard to develope on means you open up a whole new world of ever expanding the dev's minds without any lack of space barriers, optimizing it 2 run on PS3 prove superior 2 making games for box3fixme and it's about only 60% of the PS3 capacity 2 do wonders
KILLZONE 2 has top notch graphics, effects, gameplay, multiplayer, the AI is to dam smart, and captivates war at its finest....
i dare you 2 expand on what more can they do to the box3fixme......personally imo xbots will only degrade multiplatform games due 2 hardware imcompetence and DVD space limitations......not 2 mention the RRoD which i will get flame 4
I don't understand why people say COD is so great. I prefer Bad Company alot more. The characters don't seem "weightless", the motion is much better. Maybe my opinion is just influenced for the presence of vehivles. The WAW tanks make me laugh.

CoD4 is the best FPS still to date the reason why people wanna say killzone 2 is better because they wanna say oh my system has the biggest ***** in the yard lol...and not for nothing but PS3 online sucks i experience nothing but lag in any game I play except MGO my xbox runs perfect on live...So its like the difference between the AK-47 and a M4... they both shoot the same type of round the AK shoots the bullets out at a better velocity but its highly inaccurate so what good is a gun whos bullets cant hit. If you dont get the metaphor...AK=ps3 and M4=360
I really hate posting on boards like this. But I really, really hate people who have ZERO understanding of firearms. It's quite obvious your only experience with firearms is on a screen.
The AK + the M4 do not shoot the same types of rounds (unless it's in a video game). The velocity out of an AK is not higher than an M4 nor is it highly inaccurate by any means. It is the user who is inaccurate not the gun.
Stop basing your knowledge on video games and hollywood.
COD has yet done anything great 2 the FPS except add a new number to the title and wrap it in a new shrinkwrap plastic......it's like Windows Vista which proves 2 be pathetic 2 no end a bug of a new software.....new look, runs the same if not worser......no 1 wants to use it and sticking with XP.......COD 3 will always be better than 4......N 4 was suppose 2 be an improvement.......well if that's all they can improve i doubt they"ll get anywhere 2 far in the near future.....especially since xbox is at its near limits N the DVD they use will eventually kill the system itself not to mention the RRoD
umm steveo incase you didnt know infinity ward didnt make COD 3. COD 3 was the first one made by treyarch alone. when have they ever made a good COD game, NEVER. COD 3 was by far one of the WORST COD games i have ever played.
and no effect on you? what kind of a game were you playing? the american DIES halfway through the game, something that usually isnt in too many games. took an effect on me.
COD4 released shortly after Halo 3, and WaW within months of Bioshock, Fallout 3, and Gears of War 2. I think that constitutes massive competition. There are way more than that too

the M4 fires a smaller bullet, by about 2 millimeters, where as the AK 47 fires a larger and much heavier bullet. as an additional bonus to being bigger and heavier, the bullet is much less likely to stop when it hits objects, like bodies, cinder blocks, and some metals, this giving it a better penetration rate than that of the M4.
you mentioned that you play MGO. funny thing about that game, both the M4 and the AK 47 are in that game, and i believe that the ammo is listed in MM's.

Bioshock should be up with Halo 3, it was a late 2007 game. So was The Orange Box
COD4 is overrated, it's a very poor FPS. Counter-Strike: Source is a better multiplayer game and Bad Company is quite enjoyable too. I'm looking forward to Battlefiled: 1943 and Bad Company 2 more than the next COD.
Killzone 2 wipes it's a55 with COD4 in every aspect of the gameplay thanks to the care and attention of GG as well as them listening to the community to tweak and improve things, and it's a gorgeous looking game.
IW couldn't even release a patch for rumble support on the PS3 (the DualShock 3 was released before COD4 went on sale). I hope they can do better with Modern Warfare 2 but COD4 is extremely disappointing.

... probably not though, because irrespective of all your defending of it a number of weeks ago, the game is rough around the edges. I even thought of you when the sound cuts halfway through the demo... ... ... and the PS3 was the system they developed on first hah!?!?

but the first COD was the best ever for me, the whole way it played, especially when you where dodging bullets as a russian, and then getting to the top of berlin and watching the russians putting up the flag! it was mind blowing!
COD4 was a good game too though, but COD3 just sucked big style for the ps3, the aiming system was wrong, and i felt sick every time i played it!
killzone is a graphical marvel, MS has even commended sony for it, so those who say KZ sucks are probably a 12yr old who has never played the game, or heavily blinkered!
