Call of Duty 7 already under development, and yes, it's from Treyarch |
Ó

It's aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!
This doesn't really come as a surprise, but if any of you guys had doubts, time to put a stake through its heart. Call of Duty 7 (which is rumored to be set in Vietnam) is already under development, and yes, it's indeed coming from Treyarch. Call of Duty: World at War senior animator David Kim reveals the following in his LinkedIn profile:
I am currently on my second title as a senior animator in the games industry with Activision / Treyarch on Call Of Duty 7. Previous to that I specialized as a previsualization artist for various productions.
Of course, his use of "Call of Duty 7" here would be a temporary placeholder name for whatever game they're cooking. Quite possibly, CoD7 could drop the whole CoD branding, just like how Infinity Ward took it out of Modern Warfare 2.
As I said, Treyarch doing CoD7 is something we expected. Last year, Activision's CEO said they were going for a "leapfrog strategy" of alternating between Treyarch and Infinity Ward for their CoD franchise. To spell it out for you, here's how it's been going down, starting from CoD4:
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Infinity Ward
- Call of Duty: World at War - Treyarch
- Modern Warfare 2 - Infinity Ward
- Call of Duty 7 - Treyarch

Now this s*** is getting ridiculous...
Agreed
I think Infinity Ward is trying to stray off the CoD label/name, because treyarch is tainting IW's image. Hence the CoD-less "Modern Warfare 2".
So technically, Treyarch is making the 6th installment in the series. IW is making something else.
It's only ridiculous because two teams are working on the same series. Each game still gets 2 years of development. However, after WaW, I think i'll just buy IW games from now on and avoid Treyarch's rehash-installments.
A higher-up in EA said that in an interview last year about this Games are getting a higher demand and getting longer, harder and overall bigger which means its more time and attention hase to be applied to release a game properly. If a Dev team only had a year to make a game it would be alot more "rehashy". So EA has done somthing thats been around for a while but one of the bigger companies that have let two teams dev one franchise alot of Dev teams have followed especially since they almost dropped Need for Speed fanchise last year due to th same issues.
Aside from that, I'm pretty sure IW didnt want TreyA to get thier messy hand all over thier MW games this all makes sense though alot of people may dissaggree but over all about 90% of the CoD fans will buy them anyway.
But honestly people will still get the game even if they know Treyarch made it. As long as people keeps buying the games they'll never stop.
There's no friction between Treyarch and Infinity Ward. IW only dropped CoD because they want to emphasize it's Modern approach. Treyarch does the pre-present games, IW does the future ones. It's simple. Your opinions don't matter since there have been die-hard CoD fans since day 1, and they'll buy all installments.
Treyarch can't be that bad since they sold millions with CoD3 and CoD5 so far.
Someone who doesn't hate Treyarch and isn't on some quest to spread BS about them.
There is no animosity between IW and Treyarch and most of all there is nothing wrong with Treyarch's COD games. Screw all the Treyarch haters
I love how COD started as a WW2 series and as soon as IW releases a modern game all people want is modern games and never want to see WW2 again. I wonder how many of them only played COD4, it isn't even the best game in the series :/
i highly doubt that i will be picking this one up... so far i have made the mistake of buying every single cod and regretted it. both cod3 and 5 were terrible games, and i doubt this one will be much better. but u never know, vietnam sounds like an interesting setting, and i guess third time IS the charm, but we will have to see. i doubt anything will be different tho, but hey look on the bright side...tanks will get stuck in the marshlands of vietnam ;)
i love a good war game at least once a year modern or classic ww2 and even sci fi so as long as its worth playing threw at least once im buying..
WaW was terrible compared to MW.
They didn't fix anything like Juggernaut, and Martydom (Juggernaut is debatable, but Martydom just flat out needs to be taken out. Who thought it would be great to reward players for dieing?). They made last stand even more over powered. They created *****ing annoying artillery strikes (Where I can move like 2mph when I'm in a teammates artillery). They replaced the helicopter with overpowered dogs which have more HP then humans. And lets not forget the *****ing no skilled pray and spray gun that can shoot snipers from 200ft away. Yes, I am referring to the biggest obomination that has ever come to competitive gaming. Ladies and gentlemen, the mp40.
The only really redeemable quality was the single player, but even that is flawed seeing as it's near impossible to beat it on veteran. (Which I have. I just had to put up with a ***** load of enemy grenades and aimbots).
No, Treyarch needs to definitely stop making mods for casual gamers, and create something new that actually takes skill to play.
But props to them for actually attempting to fix the spawns, and releasing some map packs. (Although they should be free, at least they're post-supporting their game unlike IW)
i hear you but none of those things bother me ..everything that that you complained about makes the game intense exiting and fun..and 60$ a year on a new cod is not too bad compared to all the other crap thats out there
Yeah, my problem isn't with Treyarch - I don't dislike them at all. In fact, I haven't even played CoD3 or WaW, so not in a position to comment on them, plus loads of people on my friends list are always playing WaW.
My bugbear is just the turnaround time really. It feels too quick between instalments, and just as I'm starting to own in the games I play (tuned into the maps, got my Perks how I like them, etc), everyone's buggered off to the next game and we're all back at stage one again. More DLC would be nice, rather than a job lot every year.
Of course, this has just probably proved that I take too long getting good at the games, but whatever lol!
I think EA's strategy of the two-developer-franchise is a good one, but it's not doing me any favours, and to me... I'm the most important person in the world lol!
Ho-hum!
they prolly changed the name cause there sick of other games using its engine there should be a label at the bottom of games like COD5 and that James bond game that say powered by COD4 engine YES THAT'S RIGHT WERE TO LAZY TO MAKE ARE OWN
Actually takes skill to play? Everything after 3 takes no skill to play whatsoever. The guns have no recoil. The ADS button basically equals the same thing as a NoSpread hack on Counter-Strike.
WaW's MP failed just as hard as CoD4's. Their first failure was the implementation of perks. You just don't taint FPS with that type of crap.
I think the whole "I hate WaW" thing is absolutely retarded, maybe you have 0 skills at all, because WaW is the HARDEST CoD game of them all. Think I'm lying? Try Heart of the Reich on Veteran. I beat COD4 got ALL the achievements, except the intel ones because I didn't care for them as much. I got ALL the achievements in COD:WaW, look through your friends lists. How many of your friends actually beat the game on Veteran? If there are, you probably could count them with one hand. I personally liked WaW's story, I thought it was in depth well thought out. The complaint about the games coming too soon? I waited 2 years for GOW 2 only to be disappointed. So quit your whining about a game coming too soon or your fav dev didn't make it. You have the option to NOT buy it. But don't disrespect those who actually are fans of the series and hope to see more of the series. I never believed in "3 installments is enough" like most people do, look at Friday The 13th..... one of the greatest Slasher flicks of all time, if it can go past part 1 & 2....let it. Also I'd like to see some Nazi Vietnemese (sp?)
Activision makes me hate them even more as they run great franchises into the ground. Look at what they did to tony hawk for f*** sakes. Guitar hero is going the same route.... they just release as much crap as they can to make the biggest profit and then move on, its horrid.
What happened to SIX?
Veteran wasn't hard, it was broken. (1000/1000GS here).
It was a test of patience, not a test of skill.
And then the whole Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero debate comes up, when dumb kids say GH is better and call RB a rip-off, completely unaware of the fact that Harmonix created the GH series.
After I saw GH on the DS, I said ***** Activision. They've been failing for years, almost as bad as EA.
they would do this. I was talking to my buddy about them running the two series' simultaneously. I think it'll be good for it. Eventually one will fade out, and we'll be left with what's really good.
@Relys
Agreed a billion times about the flaws of WaW. However, I don't think it was horrible, just could be better.
@NarooN
Maybe ADS would be so gay if shooting from the hip wasn't so innacurate.
