Burnout Paradise - Image 1

Getting your fix of next-gen motorist mayhem from Burnout Paradise (PS3, Xbox 360) but want it to be a little bit smoother under the hood? Then you won't have to wait long, as Criterion Games have been listening to complaints and feedback, and they're just about ready to release a patch that should take care of all the nagging issues.

So, what are they fixing? Lots of issues. Here's the top ten problems they're addressing, as quoted from the update post itself:
  • PS3 game can crash when a player is taken down and the player that has performed the Takedown leaves the game.
  • The game indefinitely displays "Connecting to Paradise City Servers" if it's having problems pinging the rebroadcast server.
  • Disconnecting the controller before a race begines (sic) can mean that race timings can be manipulated with players who didn't cross the line first being awarded the win
  • Repeatedly joining and leaving a game with 8 players can cause the game to hang.
  • Hammering the A (360) or X (PS3) after unlocking a car can cause the game to hang.
  • East Crawford and Watt St achievements can not be achieved if the player goes online and sets road rules before attempting them.
  • Audio distortion when using 5.1 / DTS and looking rearwards.
  • Enhanced 360 streaming performance stops instances where the game seems to pause for a second or so.
  • Total time driven in player stats would stick at 145 hours :)
  • VoIP connection problems with 8 player games.
Note that these are the issues they're working on, and not the changes they've made to the game itself, just so that we're clear. Looking at the list, though, it's definitely evident that the guys over at Criterion are making sure that we get our money's worth with Burnout Paradise. Let's just hope that they roll the patch out soon. Updates as we get them, and you can check out more info in the via link below.

I have this for PS3, and it does the same thing. I hope they fix this for PS3 too.

I don't mind patches to clean up stuff they couldn't touch before release. People say that it should all be worked out before ship date, but in reality, games have always shipped with these little flaws in them and we just put up with it because there was no such thing as patching to be had. Granted some devs are taking patching for granted but some are really using it for good.

I honestly don't have any issues with burnout paradise on my PS3 technical wise. I thought it worked perfectly.

The 360, PS3, Wii and PSP are all patch jobs too, damn cheap POSes.
