Burning up the FPS genre with WarDevil screens |
Ó
While a bunch of you FPS junkies are trying to hold back the Chimera threat in Resistance: Fall of Man, a more ominous evil is surfacing from behind the curtains of PS3landia. Is this a possible R:FoM-killer? Only time will tell. Or maybe these screenshots could.
As of the moment, Indigo Prophecy is hard at work with their upcoming WarDevil but we're glad that they've released a new bunch of pics to send shiver down our spines. It's one thing trying to hold back a couple of aliens. It's quite something else if you're up against creatures of the Netherworld in hi-tech armor and high powered artillery.
One interesting factor of this game is that it's going to use the WarDevil RTE 1080 Engine developed by Digi-guys Studios. This engine will bring the game some graphical depth and complexity for their WarDevil project. The goal here is to achieve in-game graphics that are comparable in quality to pre-rendered cinematic sequences.
If that's true, then the screenshots below are gameplay screens. Not cinematics. Yeowza!

Those textures seem really hi res to me. It looks great to me. Hopefully it'll play well too.
Textures on the building seemeed good but his pants it seemed like they havent even gotten to yet.
Either way over at Ps3forums we were just talking about this game. Keep us updated! So far it doesnt look bad which is a great thing!
is this a ps3 title?i did a google of it and it said it was a 360 exclusive.
I am a journalist from PSU.com, former PS3Land...and I have done many writings on WarDevil: Enigma.
1. The game is exclusive to PS3. Also, why else would they be making the game 1080p when the Xbox 360 does no such resolution?
2. The game is actually being developed by the Digi-Guys and you should be seeing a full length interview with them soon on our website.
You can check out more screens and get more info at http://www.psu.com/node/898
the 360 does do 1080p, but il still have to look into if thats true thats its PS3 only
360 does NOT do 1080p. Not NATIVE. It upscales content that is all.
Microsoft tricks another one.
can i say project offset for the 360? all i have to say. thank you
holy ***** that game looks sikk
it has not yet been confirmed that Project Offset is coming to Xbox 360. Last I read in the forums, the team was hiring PS3 programmers.
Glad you pointed that out because most people don't realize the 360 isn't using true HD.
Upscaling is for games with resolutions less than 1080p.
BTW, you do know than 1080i and 1080p are the SAME resolution don't you? The only difference is that 1080i outputs the odd lines in one pass, then the even lines in the next, thus reducing bandwidth and frame buffer memory.
Look at their jobs page;

"Xbox 360 Programmer
Primary responsibility will be to handle porting, maintaining, and optimizing the codebase for the Xbox 360. Experience developing for the Xbox 360 is a huge plus. Experience programming for console platforms is required."

'"After getting word of Sony's comments Microsoft told GameDaily BIZ that contrary to the SCEA statement, "The facts are that with this software update, video and game content developed for 1080p will be output at 1080p -- native, not upscaled. Only content developed for lower resolutions will be upscaled."'
Of course, we haven't got 360 games developed for 1080p natively YET, since the focus was on 720p (although Splinter Cell is 1080i native), but we will some a few games in future, and no doubt some are in developement now.
It's Sony and it's fanboys who have been playing down 1080p on the 360, but the facts are, 360 offers 1080p NATIVE.
Gino D good article, this game and video footage of this game has been around for awhile now (since last year I know because I have the trailers), the movie trailers are quite good. Do some more searching guys you can find the trailers on the net go to IGN they have it there im sure. The pictures don't do it justice.
All it proves is they are looking for devs for their Xbox360 projects.
Show me anywhere on their website or in the news anywhere that refers to other projects from the small team behind Project Offset.
BTW, have you even bothered to look hrough their website?
http://www.projectoffset.com
I've followed Project Offset since it was first announced, back when it was just a PC technology demo with the _possibility_ of it coming to next-gen consoles in future.
They are not some big developer with multiple teams working on different games, they are a small team who have created a next-gen game engine and will be using their engine to create their FIRST games, which is currently called Project Offset.
So, it was PC only to begin with, but with the expansion to next-gen console(s), they are recruiting programmers. In this case, "to handle porting, maintaining, and optimizing the codebase for the Xbox 360".
That says it all. Deny it all you want.
WarDevil is being produced by Digi-Guys in the U.K. - Ignition is to publish WarDevil & Digi-Guys continue to develop the Game & Movie project.
Quantic Dream are working on 'Heavy Rain' for the PS3. They made Indigo Prophecy & are not related to WarDevil or Digi-Guys (or the RTE1080 Engine) in any way. They have their own Engine & Tech :)
There seems to be some confusion as both Heavy Rain & WarDevil Enigma were the only two independent European products shown at E3 3006 by Sony on the PS3.
Use the email contacts on the Digi-Guys or WarDevil websites to find out more info.
I know about this, but can't say how - you'll just have to trust me
I cannot believe that, after all this time, Sony fanboys still can't accept that the 360 does native 1080p. Perhaps they should spend more time actually checking their facts instead of propogating the same BS misinformation all over the web.
Anyone else noticed how this game suddenly looks horrible now it's been ported to the PS3? The original tech demo running on PC looked awesome. But, apart from the background on images 3 and 4, it looks pretty bad IMO.
I remember the day when journalists were well informed. When they at least knew the basic facts pertaining to their subject matter.
Even if your not at all interested in the 360. As a journalist, you should at least know by now that the 360 does native 1080p. Come on guys, this is old news. Get with the program.
