Brutal Legend from Sierra Entertainment - Image 1

In a recent interview, Tim Schafer discussed the upcoming game from Sierra Entertainment: Brutal Legend. He discusses various gameplay mechanics and story details and judging from the description (and building on Schafer's long history in video games) this is going to be one rocking game. (Who could resist that pun?)

If you watched Brutal Legend's debut trailer you may have guessed some of the elements of the story and gameplay. Brutal Legend is the story of Eddie Riggs, a roadie who is transported to an alternate reality where humankind is enslaved and the world is infused with the magic of the gods. The gods of heavy metal rock.

So everything about the game is about rock. As Eddie Riggs (who will be voiced by Jack Black by the way), you're going to have to build an army to free humankind from their enslavement under demonkind. You gather your army through every mission you accomplish in the game.

Your army will consist of hilarious caricatures of heavy rock metal stereotypes like headbangers who use their heads as a weapon, and emo gravediggers who will serve as the rank and file of your army. Lemmy of Motorhead will be there too, with a bass guitar that can heal. You yourself will be wielding an axe (musical and otherwise) as your weapon.

Your axe can tap into the energy of the metal gods and can do a lot of destructive stuff (as well as hilarious ones). Moves you can do with the axe include playing a face-melting guitar solo to literally melt faces and juggling people in the air. You can use your guitar to do combos with individuals in your army to do other rocking stuff (there's the pun again).

Brutal Legend from Sierra Entertainment will be out sometime in 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And now here are the promised pics from the game:
