Sony's baby sure has come a long way since then - what you got out of the box two years ago is not exactly what it is now. Accessories and applications have been added to fuel more of that multimedia experience, and they're promising a whole lot more.
Thanks to the millions of people around the world who took home a PS3 for themselves (some 17 million as of last count), Sony is all the more inspired to bring you only the best in gaming. And as PS3 enters its second birthday, Sony, through John Koller, promises a whole lot more to come your way.
He says:

We don't have a crystal ball, but we know that you can look forward to many great games and PS3 enhancements over the next 12 months, starting with the upcoming launch of PlayStation Home's open beta, which will bring the PS3 community closer together. Then, just around the corner, you'll have Killzone 2, inFamous, and tons more. So please join me in wishing a happy second birthday to PS3!

I would have been the first one in line at Best Buy but the security did not allow me to campout in the morning. I decided to go to Target and I was the 8th person but I was only guaranteed a 20gb. After a while I was like "no, I want a 60gb PS3" So I went back to Best Buy and people were camping out. I was like Freaking Son of a Beep! But yeah, I ended up getting in line and I was the 20th person (last) to get the 60gb. Sorry guys not that you care but… AHHh! Back in the days! LOL. And yes my 60gb still works like a charm, and the awesome part is that it is backwards compatible Baby Yeah! Congratulations for those people who bought the PS3 on launch date and I feel sorry for the people that caused riots and got their @sse$ kicked and not ended up getting a PS3. LOL LMAO! Remember that dude that hit himself in the pole while running to the store to get a PS3. LOL! OK that’s enough HAPPY B-DAY PS3! You ROCK!

me and my friends camped out all night only to find out half way through that we couldn't buy the system our selves because we worked at the store...then i got my girl friend to come and get in line for me and through some foolishness on the parts of the store managers i still didn't get one even though i had some one hold it for me....i ended up having to work there that day..mad as all heck..but then on thanksgiving day and my uncle got me one from best buy....Good times!!
i bought mine nov 11 2006.
last year i gave it a 250gb hdd present, this coming christmas i think ill give it a keyboard/mouse/wireless headset ^_^
